Wireless LAN Browsing slow as dirt - Please Read and comment

When my x50v is in the cradle, it browses the local network fine. I am using Resco Explorer and NetUse. When I take it out of the Cradle, and run it wireless, it takes a long time to browse folders, 1-3 minutes per folder, and basically just locks/hangs until it responds again

It happens in both programs.
I turned off CPU power managment, put it to full
I turned off Wireless Power Saving, set it to Full
I have Pocket Hosts with a entry to my static IP desktop (this fixed wireless sync)
I have my main DNS set to my router, which is the gateway for both the pocket PC, and the Desktop PC.

Any suggestions? It looks like a speed issue to me.. Yet I am able to stream internet radio, webpages, and access Terminal Service/Remote Desktop computers with no notice in speed drops.

Nothing obvious springs to mind, but try and force 802.11b on the router, ensure that there ate no other protocols running (IPX, NetBEUI etc).

Check the firmware on the router too.

Mine also takes a long while to browse folders. I think its because of having too many files within the directory... I just googled netuse and is that used for sharing folders? Whats wrong with the built in windows file sharing?

netuse is used to access a shared folder, not to share one.

Are you using the built-in network mapping abilities in Resco?

I'm not sure why/if you need to point your DNS to your router, I leave mine blank I think it automatically checks with the router.

Also try transferring a file from your desktop to your Axim in Resco and note the speed. Should be roughly 150KB/sec, but can vary +-50KB/sec depending on the type of wireless encryption you are using.

Ok tried setting the Wireless router to B only mode. And the firmware is the most current, it is a WRT54GS Linksys.

I have tried it with DNS auto and static. Just incase it can't find the PCs IP address. I will try to transfer a file from the desktop to the PDA but it takes so long just to open a folder.

I am using WPA-PSK on the router, I might try removing that also. But like I said.. All other wireless traffic is fast. Only LAN browsing.

TCPTune seemed to fix this for me

I had exactly the same problem. I recently found a program
called TCPTune that upped the TCP Receive Window and now it's lightning fast.

The solution I found that works best is a VNC software by Z2. I wanted to be able to access files on my PC at home but couldn't figure out/or turn on my file sharing on my laptop and PocketLAN--so I went with Z2 remote. With it, I can browse any folder, not just the shared ones. Plus, everything is visible, not just in an explorer tree type navigation. I was at my brother's house using his wifi network and was able to get an MP3 file in less than 2 minutes.

When I'm not by a hotspot, I can use my Verizon BT phone set up and get a decent download rate as well.
