Could maybe try RhinoStats CPU monitor. It sits on your today screen, but can show a good indication of the CPU usage.

Seems its still only compatiable for pocket pc 2002, so I don't no how it'd work on the x50

Seems like it was my mistake as it only controls the CPU when in battery mode and not full power mode in the cradle, which makes sense.

I totaly forgot to mention that, it uses the stepping that is built in to the wm03, it is only 2 speeds, unlike xpu which allows 4 speeds, I am unsure to what the run and turbo freqs are on the x50.

I had RhinoStats CPU monitor
and it would not let my CPU turn down lower than 624 MHz in auto setting

seems that XCPUScalar locks up my machine when set to auto and switched on in battery mode. If I switch on when the macine is in the cradle XCPUScalar works flawlessly until the machine is switched off and then on again under battery power :(
