Need to use email with Exchange Server

I have my x50V configured to use email with my personal POP acct, but now need to be able to access my work account on an exchange server.

I have been searching this site, but not been able to find the steps needed to configure my Ax.

Can someone point me in the right direction (or make it REAL easy on me and tell me how to do it)???

Thanks!

Depends on what you want you mean by by sync email with the Exchange server. You can setup activesync to sync your emails when you connect to your pc, or you can sync directly with the Exchange server. If you want to sync directly (without relying on a pc, this can be done a number of ways, WiFi,GPRS etc. but it depends on how your Exchange is setup. Your exchange administrator is the best person to ask, you will need either exchange 2003 or exchange 2000 with the mobile communication upgrade. The Exchange would then need to be enabled to allow Activesync and/or Outlook Mobile Access(OMA), you may even need a certificate. You may gets lots of answers and spend lots of time trying to get it to work but check first with your administrator to see if it's possible at all.

We have Exchange Server 2000. I see in Active Synch where to enter the server name (I assume this would be the IP address so that it can find the server over the internet), the username and password. What user name should this be (the network user ID, the mail ID, . . )?

We have been trying some different combinations to no avail. My boss used to use an AT&T PDA/Phone, and said he needed some software from AT&T called "Office Online" which put something on the exchange server and his PDA/Phone. Do I need something like that? I can't look at his settings, because his unit was recently hard reset, and he dosen't rememember how to set it up.

We have tried some different combinations, but get an error-29, which says the server can not be found.

Any thoughts?

If you have OWA (Outlook Web Access), use the name of your OWA server.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can remotely sync with Exchange 2000, only with Exchange 2003 (I think there is a thread on this, try putting Outlook Web Access into the search engine). For Exchange 2000 the only way is vie the web - PIE, using Outlook Web Access...

so maybe you need to send a copy of Chris's front-page story to your IT people. It is about the forthcoming upgrade to Exchange 2003 which will allow push-email with WM5 (which will be available as an x50 upgrade later this year). Perhaps that will persuade them to upgrade!
