Maybe because the majority of users have the X50V

Also, the benchmarks for the X50v dont exactly compare to what it actually is. But I saw someone say that the benchmarks have changed since the first X50v.

Dunno who'd agree?
that's becuase the benchmark software doesn't support the intel 2700g. So if they did this thing would have the highest score.

Read my "VGA Screen is a Faked Screenshot" topic. The VGA Screen really lookes like a faked screenshot. i mean, you actually CAN count pixels on a 1024x786 17" Monitor. It is a bit hard, but THEORETICALLY (Dont try it at home) possible, cause you can SEE a pixel. i am not able to see a Pixel on my Axim X50v. Got my point?

Ok..here is a different opinion

I recently purchased the X50v..I had just gotten and still have an X5
In nonVGA mode the screen is awesome and nicer than the X5

In true VGA mode which I am using now the text can be way to small and certain programs make the text too small for easy use( I do not care what people say..I use pocket informant and many of the screens you can not enlarge the text ie typing in a Note or Task intial screen to set the name, date and alarm etc..I can enlarge the text for typing a text in text screen on a note/task)

Granted I am 40 and do not use or need Bifocals yet :rolling: ...I am an Ophthamologist before all you guys jump on me and I understand text size better than most...if you are you in your 20's and maybe early 30's your power of accomdation will get you by but wait all the criticism of people with small fonts will disappear with time(also the longer you look at the screen you will fatigue and can develop "eye-strain"..again the younger the longer and less issue this will be..you will do no harm no matter the age)

With that said the VGA clearity is excellent :approve: and better tha nnonVGA(I am using OzVGA)...But I really think a utility(where is this ) needs to be released to allow enlargement of text for all screens and the top and bottom menu bar

You will love the screen in nonVGA mode and it is nicer overall in VGA mode..but the text size for some apps is an issue

BTW some programs I am using ie skyscape..the text is much clear in VGA mode(but even in largest mode on the small side) than nonVGA

I am sure photos and movies look much better in VGA...

Got me there

Well majority do have the X50v, but it just seems that alot of problems come from users who have the X50v and people who have the X50 (mid/low) don't seem to post that many useage problems... I dunno, maybe I'm wrong again

Do like the screen on the X50v tho, I do admit its tons better then the QVGA screen.

Yeah that was most likely the case, I really dont no anything about it myself. Just something I had heard about the benchmarks on the X50v.

VGA is so great - there are those priceless moments that it comes in handy (like viewing a Repligo document, or a full Excel/PlanMaker sheet)...

and after playing around with my x50v - i dont think i can go back to a QVGA (i was upgrading from my ol' Loox 610)

well worth the small difference in price

I agree with everyone else. Once you go VGA, you can't go back.

Also, to the person who said, "and ipaqs suck! they have really poor quality and everyone I know had to return theres," I've had a few ipaqs over the last few years and never had any kind of problems that would have led to me return the unit.

Hit up your local CompUSA and they should have a hx4705 on display. (Although I doubt that they have any full VGA program running on it, unless you go to the Dayton, OH CompUSA where I work :-). Not sure which other major retailers have them on display. Someone told me the BestBuy down the street from us had a whopping 2 PDA's on display, so I wouldn't start with them...

My opinion-before I knew of true VGA mode, the screen was gorgeous compared to QVGA devices. When I got SE_VGA on them....wow. It actually made our Apple rep compliment a Microsoft-related product.

VGA is worth it. Get a good screen protector, not the ones from Dell. Boxwave, Javoedge, and Brando are good. I've used the same Boxwave screen protector since December and it is still in good shape. The others are cheap and worthless I've read in the forums.

VGA is by the far the best advantage to the x50v. The extra resolution really make digital photos and especially video stand out.
