x50v qvga / SE vga / true vga

i recall vaguely reading in a thread that it is possible to put the x50v in QVGA mode just like it is possible to put in true vga mode.

i would like to put the x50v in true *QVGA* mode for certain games and apps

can this be done?

thanks - andy

The default mode of the X50V is what you would call QVGA mode

No that isn't possible. The X50v operates in VGA all of the time. People mistakenly call it QVGA mode because the graphics are larger.

hey blazingwolf :)

hmm that makes sense i thought i read somewhere you could do that

in all honesty the only reason i want to run QVGA (240x320) res is so i can use the qvga version of wargus (warcraft)

the VGA version is unplayable right now

ill tinker with the lua scripts to get it to run... it wont be full screen but at least it will be something

Ok... can we say that these PocketPC's run in vga but that they run in an emulated QVGA mode...?

We can say that... but it depends on your definitions of VGA, emulated and QVGA...

Yep. :) That is when it was running first edition. It couldn't do this if you switched to second edition.

@ripper,

I guess you could but I can see that as still being a point of confusion. Personally, I would think it would be much better to not call it QVGA at all since it isn't. I have been calling it VGA and "true" VGA(this way it doesn't matter if you are using SE_VGA or OZVGA). This is a misnomer also but it seems to work ok.

@ Blazingwolf...

I totally agree with you that these devices are running at VGA... however... when the display is using 4 pixels to display one pixel in most programs... it is more representative of a VGA device emulating QVGA. Programs that are VGA-aware... would not fall in this category but they are still in the minority.

I understand your point... and though these screens are displaying vga... they are not being used really as such, otherwise... they are emulating their QVGA counterparts... and thus the ragged artwork.
