If you still can't get it to work, try unmounting all drives and then run it. You don't have to have a mounted drive in order to get it to work if I remember right (you can mount the drives manually by typing 'mount' when it's running). It didn't work for me on the first try either, so I had to remove the mounted drives at first.
Thanks for the config file, but I still couldn't get it to work. Tried without mounted drives and with mounting only the C drive. Tried transferring the config file through Resco's shell plugin to avoid any conversion Activesync may be performing on said files...
Tried launching both in landscape mode and portrait mode - no luck...
dosBox never launches and I always have to soft reset...
Works for me, just copied DeadTaco's conf file and changed the CF card to an SD card. Even launched fine with 640x480 screen res.
Nice find DeadTaco :approve:

My first IBM PC was an XT that ran a 4.77MHz Intel 8086 processor......One for the OS (DOS 3.0 which fit on a 360K floppy) and the other for your programs....
There were many game companies out there like Apogee, Sierra, Id, etc,, The only way those games were available was on a floppy. The first color monitors allowed you to display 4 colors (CGA), then came 16 colors (EGA) and then 256 colors (VGA).
We've come a long way since then.
had a 8086 running msdos 2.1 & 3.1, on 256k RAM. later got a 286 with 20MB HDD & VGA.
so dosbox works fine for u guys? will be cool if it can run some VGA games. pocketDos only worked with CGA & as a 8086 machine, not much games i can find to use it (even at abandonware sites)
Hmmm...PocketDOS... I think there was plugin emulating Bosch 486DX. As I remember there was written something about limited VESA support, not sure though. Just go to their web-site, there're several plugins available.

First, try unmounting every drive, this includes the "C" drive (these drives are not needed at all to test DosBox since DosBox runs off its own 'Z' drive). Also, are you running an X50v? I just installed it on my wife's x50v and it appears to work fine. I just wish I could get my old AutoCAD 12 to run on it without memory errors
Yeah! With a proper DOS emulator, i can run all my old DOS games again. I still like some of the older games better than the new ones. New games tend to be "bloatware" and fail to focus on the original use of games - FUN.
One thing to keep in mind is that this version of DOSBox doesn't seem to like long filenames...just like real DOS did :) You can have drives mounted from the AUTOEXEC section as long as all the names are under 8 characters (it looks like.) However, you can have spaces in the name. I mounted "/SD Card/pDOSBox" as C drive just fine. I even ran Bard's Tale 2! Yay! My biggest problems right now are a) I don't have an external keyboard, so typing is a pain, b) I get all sorts of flickering if I'm not in "real" VGA mode (using SE_VGA), and c) there isn't any hardware scaling that I can make work. Another minor problem is that there isn't a tilde (~) that seems to work right...it always shows up as ` when typing. I think if that worked then we could have long filenames in the command line, since you could then do "cd pDOSBo~1" to try to get into the "pDOSBox61" directory. Any ideas?
BTW, I was one of those who got Win95 working on Bochs in PPC. I never got keyboard or mouse working, so it would just boot...and then sit...and then I'd have to kill the program, at which point Win95 thought it was improperly shut down, and asked me to hit a key to Scandisk...which I couldn't do, cause I didn't have input! Yeah, it was interesting. Also, it was on a Toshiba Genio e550G, not the x50v...haven't tried it on my Axim just yet. Maybe thats next...
If anyone knows where I could get a 550G cheap, with WM2003 (since Audiovox/Toshiba screwed their customers and didn't offer the upgrade, the jerks!) please let me know :D

Doesn't want to run for me. What ROM version and GAPI hack or not?
A03 here, with the GAPI hack 1.11. It works, with the caveats I mentioned in my earlier post. Make sure you have dosbox.conf in the same directory as dosbox.exe, and install PocketCMD before you try running DosBox. The zip file mentioned at the beginning of this thread includes a PocketCMD .cab file for easy installation. Finally, doublecheck your dosbox.conf file and comment out (use a # at the beginning of the line) anything in the [autoexec] portion that corresponds to mounting the C drive. Out of the box, it didn't work for me...once I commented that out and mounted the drive a different way it worked fine. Finally, check out http://dosbox.sourceforge.net for the original PC version of DosBox with instructions, FAQs, etc. Much of it, especially in regards to the configuration, is the same on PPC as it is on PC. Hope that helps!
Also, I'm sure this is the wrong place to ask this, but does the Axim power SD or CF cards all the time when they are plugged in? I'm thinking I get horrid battery life because I have a 2.2 gig MicroDrive plugged in all the time, even when I'm not actively using it. If the card slots are powered, even when not in use, is there any way to change that functionality? I'm thinking something like a spin-down (similar to a PC) or even having some sort of manual refresh to tell the Axim to power the cards up and down as necessary. Any ideas would be appreciated :D

I stumbled upon a build of dosbox that runs great on the X50v. Granted, it doesn't have sound and the mouse is a little hokey, but it seems to run fairly fast.
If you configure it before running it, you can get it to work pretty well. However, it doesn't have a software keyboard of its own so you have to use the standard windows mobile keyboard.
I emailed the guy who made it, and he basically said that very few people know about it because he's not advertising it. Personally, I think the word needs to get out since it actually works for my X50v.
Bring it back!

But I can't get it working either.
I've tried it from BIS, CF Card, SD Card, and even main memory.
I've tried it profile and landscape.
I've tried it with mounting drives and without mounting drives.
All it ever does is hourglass and then I have to reset.
:(
I SO need this too.
If someone could do a complete tutorial it would be appreciated.
