Well all microdrives are mini hard disks... so they spin something round at some crazy rpm... which uses more battery life.

Some Microdrives are also locked to prevent you using them in PDAs (otherwise people would still be ripping apart ipods...) The one at ebuyer has had mixed reviews. some people have got it to work.. some people haven't and it's purely a random thing (ie there is no fix that you can do). So I decided not to risk it.

(there are 4 and 6GB microdrives about that will work in an axim. If i could have got one of those cheap i might have been tempted)

Oh right, so that's what microdrives are, i was wondering what they were, i can see your point about them consuming vast amounts of power, i guess its not really worth buying one even if it were cheap unless you wanted to use your axim with the mains, and that would defeat the whole purpose of buying the axim in the first place.

I'll make sure that if i buy a SD card, it'll be flash.

Some of the newer ones are less power hungry.. and have sleep modes. But not that cheap ebuyer one. Still I suppose that's why it was cheap. I'd probably have to invest in the extended battery (and new case) if i found a big cheap one.

So i see....the 2gb SD card you have should really be enough; unless you like a lot of music or divx/xvid videos. I guess the music could be sorted out with an mp3 player but a few too many expensive items is more likely to be stolen.

It would literally probably kill me if i lost my axim or mp3 player.../and it would be a double wammee if i were mugged.
