Windows Mobile 5.0 coming...

I know everyone knows already. I just like saying that 3Q 2005 is coming up in a hurry... so when do we think WM5.0 is coming?
July, August, or September?

July would be great, that means very soon.
August would be good, Happy Birthday to me.
September... why call it "sometime in 3Q 2005..." why not just "end of 2005?"

when it gets here
I'd rather it gets here later (and working) than early (but flakey)

My sentiments exactly.....Working well would be great. This might be a very open ended question, but does anyone know what the differences are going to be in the new version???

well knowing MS and being a software developer WinCE5.0 is already done and their just waiting you never ever do last minute work on something as huge as an OS.

Plus MS I think has said that with 5.0 we will be getting our updates via them not the manufacturers. meaning update.windowsmobile.com or something to that effect.

As for costs who knows, my bets on 50-60$ range.

Well I'd have expected MS to have finished it.. But I'm expecting that Dell/HP/the rest will be testing it on devices, updating drivers etc... which will be device specific. So I think we have to get it from Dell.

I'm also guessing that there may be some embargo date to stop someone rushing out there version first at the expense of testing.

I would guess the device makers probably already did most of the testing BEFORE thay committed to offering the upgrade. Doing otherwise would set them up for a huge techical support cost, if the software doesn't mesh satisfactorily.

September, like all other update I had with my other device.

30$ would be nice. If it's 60$.. well internet will save us some money again.

If I remember properly I think the upgrade I got for my old Ipaq was about £30....So I would hope it would be the same if not slightly cheaper....Being Dell

Yeah, back when i had my ipaq 3600, the upgrade was $30. Hopefully it's the same price this time, anything higher and I might not pay for it...

I'd say shipping on new devices by late July for August back to school time

Next big product refresh before the holiday shopping season

See "Mobile" magazine, July 2005 issue, pg 18. It spells out all the new features and updates to Windows Mobile.
