If you are using that prerelease that was floating around that's fine and dandy but DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REFLASH YOUR UNIT. The USB Drivers 'unloaded' themselves on me with a protection fault and rebooted my system right after it erased my current rom and put it into write mode.
Luckily I was able to reflash it with the SDCard-key trick but DO NOT do this until they either fix the USB drivers or release the production version of AS4.
The feeling of your handheld turning into a vegetable is not a good warm and fuzzy.
While I agree that people should use the search a LOT MORE than they do now, your suggested search didn't provide any useful information that was obvious. (unless I missed it) giving people a little more accurate info might get them in the habit of searching.... try here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...=flash+sd+card
this was from searching "flash from an sd card"
Be carefull guys, I just bricked my axim with that 'trick'. Look on the 'New x30 Rom page' if you want to know the gory details :(
and shame on me for not saying that the reference was only a starting point for finding the info they were looking for and not necessarily the be all end all.
zim2dive this is not a valid problem. chances are you did something wrong to mess up your axim. like i said in my above post i have reflashed twicewith a4 and no problems.
Aximbigfan - Yes, It is a 'valid problem' as you call it. My axim is dead after I did this. Dell did not put the loader in for everyone to use to upgrade their ROMs - thats why they give out the upgrader program.
I have also flashed many times using this method with no problems, and I did not 'do something wrong to mess up my axim'.
Don't tell people to do things like this if you don't know anything about it.

I have no problem. I was simply reporting that with a healthy x50, I was never able to get the ROM-update-on-SD-card "trick" to work.. I could activat e the sequence with the correct button combination, but it would fail to find a valid image and not proceed (but leaving my current ROM intact). Having made several posts inquiring for more information, others reported the same thing. And someone pointed out that the original page that gave rise to this rumor (en francais), allegedly was saying it didn't work, not that it did.
