Alternate O/S - ROM

I was glancing through thread on running windows 98 and win 98 programs on the AX and it made me think what alternative O/S Roms are there if any for the AX?

I have a Cassiopea BE300 that had a couple alternatives to the stock O/S and they greatly improved the device both in performance and in application compatability. (they were Xpod and Bee by the way)made it much like win 2003 lite.

Are there alternative O/S that are better than Win Mobile 2003?
Any experience with these good or bad?

There are no alternative OS systems for the X50 right now. There is a linux in development i believe, but it is a far way off....

The Linux project looks intriguing though... those guys promised that working on a GUI now wouldn't take that long!
