No one knows for sure.
The update disk for current owners is supposed to come 3rd quarter but that's rumor.
802.11b maxes out at 11Megs but runs slower depending on the distance to the wireless access.
My cable maxes out at 4Megs, so the wireless isn't the limiting factor.

Your WiFi connection speed will vary depending on what type of Connection you are accessing. (Dial-Up/DSL/Cable/T1, etc.)

And also on what other apps you are running on your WiFi Device, how much Main Memory is available, how full your TIF Cache is, distance from the AP/Router and the "density" of the Web Page you are trying to open.

Everything being optimal, the speed is comparable to your Desktop. (Unless you got something like a 3Ghz PC).

Probably in September or November, like the other updates

Yup. WM 5. I guess they figure it would ship too late in 2005. Anyhow I hate when they use dates on software names. They feel out of date right away. The auto companies figured that one out and sell 2006 models midway through 2005.

3Q 2005 = July through September

I would expect it in August. For anyone subscribing to the Law of Averages (save the theory bashing) August would place us in the middle.

WM5 would be a great B-Day present to me for me from me.

Micro$hite already has its WM5 site up and running. For anyoe concerned of the need for "bugs to be worked out of it" save your whining. The program was done late last year and finished testing early this year.

Well MS may have got the bugs out... But Dell/HP/the rest will still be working on their specific stuff (they are still working on WM2003SE Rom updates).

Keep in mind the WM5 upgrade will cost you. Best guess's seem to be that the upgrade will run about $30.

if it's only $30 i don't mind, as long as it's not much more expensive. what are the major benefits it adds?

Updates....we don't need no stinkin updates.

Considering a lot of software still isn't compatible with WM2003SE, it'llbe fun when this comes out.....hopefully before the end of the year.

Since when have you ever seen a piece of SW as complex as WM ever delivered w/o some bugs lurking somewhere in its mysterious innards? By the time the individual platform makers finish "customizing" the features they want to add or delete it usually creates a couple at least. Now if Dell, HP, etc. want a Beta tester I'm willing to help.
