Well thats pretty much what I was going to say.. I'm not sure you get anything new (apart from maybe VGA out) but it is packaged differently (smaller and better looking
I had a chance of a refurbed 4700 for the price of my new axim when i bought it.. and it was the touchpad that killed the deal for me.
If you can make the numbers work in your favour after selling the HP then it may be an option
Dido, same opinion here. However, for MP3, the standard battery on the x50v isn't nearly as good as the 4700. Don't expect too much time, 3-5 hours?
seems like x50v's sound quality is very nice. any one can do a comparison between 4700 and x50v's sound quality? if x50v's sound quality really much better than 4700 then i'll make a confirm to change.
Well if you're listening to Dido.. the shorter time the battery lasts the better

While I have no experience with the sound quality of the 4700, the X50v sounds fantanstic once you've added X50Mix. This is a "must have" for the X50v. Trust me, you will not regret it.
As a side note, it seems that the axim community writes quite a few apps to improve the quality of an already great product. I wonder if Ipaq users do the same for the 4700?
just changed to axim x50v few days ago. feeling x50v is much much better than 4700 in term of system speed, graphic speed, design and audio output(better than some sony MD""""COOL""""). but the only thing bad is the screen, seems HP looks better. nevermind, it's poorer but doesn't too terrible, still very good.
Wow, i am really surprised at those that feel the audio system of the axim x50v to be "very good". My Ipaq 3955 was SOOOOO much better in audio than my x50v with x50mix. For a while, I was seriously considering buying the 4700 as it thought HP would continue with its phenomenal sound systems but after reading this thread i may look for another 3955 instead as a dedicated mp3 player. Straight out of the box it beat just about anything but an IPOD and my ipaq 3650. Once the bass and treble controls were adjusted (built in) it was definitely better than ANYTHING out there (including the ipod) and this is with Windows media player! Add an eq like pocketmusic and it stomped the IPOD.
I use sony mdr-e888's and MB Quart headphones, neither of which i would consider marginal audio equipment. I just wish the axim x50v had better low end isolation - nothing i have heard compares to the clean highs, strong mid range and excellent low end isolation of the 3955. Off to ebay ..
If I'm not mistaken, there is a ROM fix for hp 4700's audio jack issues. 4700's screen is bigger and nicer. There are rumours saying that WM5 update will be available early this year. I would say 4700 is not a bad PDA at all. But I choosed X51v because of more ROM, Intel 2700G and of course, cheaper.
