Dell Canada isn't giving WM5 upgrades until Oct...

I just received an email back from my Dell Canada corporate sales manager who indicated that they will not be providing WM5 to their Canadian customers in any form until it officially goes on sale in October for around $45(Cdn). She told me that the current offer in the US is only a 'promotion' and will not be repeated in Canada. :realmad:

"It is being offered in the US as a promotion however, it isn't shipping until October. We decided only to make it available in Canada when it starts shipping (October). The upgrade will not be a free upgrade, it will be a purchase upgrade. The customer can purchase a CD for approx $45 that contains the OS upgrade (in October)."
Maybe Dell's Canadian customers should start calling Dell to find out why we cannot get the same deals our US brothers get.

I'm guessing that if/when their sales figures dip.. then they'll change there minds. Nothing like a change in the bottom line to get someones attention

Dell Canada always operates differently from Dell.com, so this is no surprise. When WM2003 came out, there were lots of promises but nothing was ever delivered.

BTW, your thread title is a little misleading...it implies Dell will NEVER offer the upgrade. I've just slightly modified it to reflect the October availability.

Thanks, After re-reading the title it's more accurate now.

It's actually Dell US that is misleading, they are offering a "free" upgrade for X50/X50v's being purchased during the promotion, but immediately raised the price $40.00 to cover it. they are not scheduled to ship until October either, so in reality Dell Canada is just offering you exactly the same thing, but being upfront about it. :approve:
