Is there an AvantGo VGA aware version?

The one from their site is pixel doubled and looks horrible for reading news pages. Anyone have a solution to this on their Axims?

First post here, so Hi all.

I thought that you can specify the new avantgo to install into SD card rather than main mem. Is the amount of daily updated files and their storage location the issue with using space?

Honest advise: Get rid of this bloated monster and try an alternative such as iSilo or Plucker+Sunrise.

Thanks guys. I can't believe that PPC 2003SE has been out this long and they haven't updated their software.

Everyone on Aximsite needs to go to the AvantGo support page and search on VGA. There is a message there that they 'may' create a VGA version at some point, but they are trying to gauge how many people want it first. Click on the 'notify me by email' to let them know you are waiting.

NO, they came out with a new version a while ago. It is a stand alone program.
You can install this where ever you want.

AvantGo solution for X50v

After researching the issue with the latest version of Avantgo and how fuzzy it looks on the X50v, it seems that reverting back to the older Avantgo version will clean up the font so that it is easier to read.
You have to do a hard reset though which makes it difficult to change back to the old version.

From AvantGo Support Page:

Question
Does AvantGo support the VGA Screen on my Pocket PC?

Answer
The AvantGo 5.7 browser, required for the most recent version of the AvantGo user interface (AvantGo ’05), has not been optimized for VGA. We are considering the prioritization of VGA support in upcoming AvantGo releases. Please check the box below to be notified so we know how many customers are interested in this feature for our next client release.

If VGA screen resolution is a preference for you over the latest AvantGo features, you may revert to the previous AvantGo, Pocket IE integrated, client. For information on how to do this click here.

Question
How do I revert back to the old AvantGo software on my Pocket PC?

Answer
If you are a Pocket PC user who installed AvantGo version 5.7 and would like to revert back to the old browser you can do so by following the instructions below:

1. Uninstall AvantGo from your desktop- Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add and Remove software select AvantGo

2. Uninstall AvantGo from your device- Start/Settings/System/ Remove programs and choose AvantGo

3. Hard reset your device.

4. Sync the device without our software.

5. Download the 3.3 Pocket Internet Explorer Integrated version from here and run the installer.

6. Open Microsoft ActiveSync on your desktop and choose options. Make sure AvantGo is checked to sync.

I went back to the old version, and you do NOT need to hard reset.

I have tried installing Avantgo to;

BIS
SD Card
Main Memory.

Unfortunately, installing it anywhere except main memory is a no no. The updates take ages, and the programme is like treacle (Molasses in the US?) to use.
It's worth a bit of main memory for me, as Plucker is a pain to update. You have to be at a desktop to update sites.

Regards

Martin

Thats good news that you don't need to hard reset. I cut and pasted the instructions from the Avantgo help page and haven't tried it myself.

Martin, did you notice a change in the print clarity when you went back to the older version?

Yes, I think the print quality is better with the old version. Although it's still not as sharp as the text in Ereader or MS Reader with Cleartype.

HTH

This is exactly what scares me about WM 2005.
