Software: Ppod and maping software, etc
Ppod, that looks kewl. Does the dial work like on an IPOD?? Can you scroll it with a stylus around??? Is it a good player??
What's the best map software for travel? I'm partial to Microsoft Streets/Trips, but I like freebies also.
I guess it all varies user to user, but if there are some MANDATORY downloads/programs when you get your Axim, what would they be??
Thanks

I love PPod, it works exactly like a ipod, you don't need the stylus, just your thumb, although, you can use the stylus if you want too. Might not be the best player, but it's easy to use, and fun to show off (and i enjoy it) :approve:

Expect a better one! Using the x50mix improves the loudness and the overall quality of the sound chip.

i did, and i tried it, its great , but still in my opinion the axim cant have same sound quality as a device that was planned and dedicated as an audio player not a PDA device with sound card
i listen to both with same earphones to same song and the ipod is just better sound, again in my opinion !

OK, had performed the same test and liked the sound of the Axim better... oh, well...plus I don't need all 6GB so this is why I'm selling the iPod now...
But, theoretically speaking, what is a sound dedicated device? Just a small rom based comuter with a sound card...

It can when the Axim uses the exact same sound hardware as the iPod.
Not that the iPod has that great sound to begin with.
It frequently comes in far behind some of the other 'dedicated' audio players in independant reviews.

pPod is great, but I wish you can customize the menu some-what, at least to choose which data folder to appear. Too bad the company is no longer offering it for obvious reasons.
As a map software, I like Pocket Streets. It doesn't do voice routing like other dedicated GPS software, but purely as an old-fashion map, I think Pocket Streets is the best.
