Help copying MP3 files to SD card

I just got a new transcend 80x 1 GB SD card. I put the card in and put my axim in the cradle to transfer some mp3's. I used the active sync explorer to drag and drop mp3's from my computer to the sd card, but it takes about 3 minutes a song. I tried coping the files i wanted in the my files folder and then syncing the axim, but that took even longer. For 13 songs active sync said it would take 77 minutes. i waited for about 10 and the progress bar never moved. How is every one else copying there files to sd cards? I cant believe it should take 3 minutes to copy one song to the sd card. Thanks
(if this has already been covered in the forum i am sorry, i did i search but could not find any posts that addressed this.)

Most people use a card reader - much faster and rarely any copying errors.

Yep, get a card reader. They are cheap and much, much, faster.

Get a USB card reader to move files to/fro between PPC and SD card. Takes long on a PPC as the data backplane between PPC and cradle is serial. Same with all PPC.

A card reader is definitely the way to go. Look for a multi format reader so you can use SD and CF cards. Happy listening.

wait! you do not nead a card reader! there's a util you can get that changes when you dock to pc wether you use activesync, or this prog. when you chose the prog, it works as a card reader, and the tx is MUCH faster than activesync. i cannot remember the name off hand, but i have it on my home pc, (im at work now) if I HAD MY VPN SETUP, I COULD FIND IT NOW, but if you wait until 9.30 central u.s time, i'll post the name, and a link.

Card Export II

It probably costs more than a card reader but will let you view your PPC from your desktop, which may be handy.

Here is a thread about it:

How are the transfer speeds? I'm assuming a card reader is still faster...

Card Export only works on USB 1.1 standard - people are saying that it will copy around 500kb/s - which is much slower than any card reader

wireless = fastest

but i'll put it this way- it took 2min 17sec to tx 14.7m worth of mp3 through a.s., and only 16sec with card export. the util works well enough for me.
