Can NO ONE solve this sync problem?!

Thought sure the brain trust here at AximSite would have figured this out for me by now...

My Axim x50v has to be reset every single time I sync. After that initial sync, it doesn't matter if I leave it in the cradle or take it out; subsequent syncs don't work. The little green System Tray icon just spins indefinitely.

WTF?! Really, really tired of this. Can't even find where to e-mail Dell for help.

Back to Palm if this doesn't get resolved soon...

Please help!

I'd check the firewall settings on the PC. Sounds like its blocking Activesync from communicating.

Why would the firewall have anything to do with it? And why would it allow me to sync once (after a reset) and then not allow it? FWIW, ActiveSync is among the allowed "exceptions" in Windows' firewall.

Thx,
Rick

Thanks for the link. But how is it that Dell doesn't offer e-mail support?! I have to call in order to get this issue resolved? 20 bucks says the people on this site know more than any phone tech I'll speak with.

Most users prefer phone support as it usually solves the problem faster then having to deal with emails back and forth.

Have you tried to connect the cradle to another usb-port or, if possible, with another computer? I had similar troubles e.g. using a too long usb-cable. Sometimes I also have to restart WinXP if I do reset/switch off X50 while it is in cradle.

I would try syncing with a clean (hard resetted) Axim. Maybe the error occurs because of installed software. You can use sprite backup to fully save your data and system. If you do so reinstall activesync (v3.8) on pc again (just to be sure).

I hope you find the solution and don't go back to palm (axim is a wonderful "tool" :) )

Well for Dell Canada, they don't even answer email. I'm waiting reply for weeks on some small question and comments.

Buy Dell for the price, not for the services

Aha! I think I may have pinned down the problem. I have exactly two programs installed on my Axim, one of which is Passwords Plus. I just disabled it in ActiveSync; now it seems I can sync normally!

Crap... I am both happy and sad. I rely very heavily on this program, though perhaps this is the reason DataViz stopped selling it. Too bad there's no easy way (that I know of) to move the records to another password manager.

Well, anyway, thanks to all for the help.
