An alternative button config for some PocketSNES
Thumbs bleeding from trying to play too many Mario games? Forsaken platformer ROMs stewing in your Recycle bin? Try this!
OK, so this isn't extremely clever or anything--but I assigned the Left and Right functions to the Calendar and Contacts buttons, respectively, and use them as the D-Pad. The rest of the buttons are mapped as follows:
Up = Y
Right = B
E-mail = X
Home = A
Left = Up
Down = Down
Action = Start
With the side buttons on the left as L and R.
I know this looks wierd, but if you try it, I think you'll be pleased. In Mario games, ducking is rare, and pressing 'Up' is even rarer. This makes certain necessary actions--like a running leap--actually possible.
If you look at the virtual button pad, you'll see that my choices for A, B, X, and Y make a logical sense. If you moved the E-mail and Home buttons just slightly to the upper-left, the arrangement would look much like the original.
Unfortunately, this doesn't really work well with more D-pad centric games, like RPGs.
