I'm still running A02. Many resets are related to BT resource issues. The second most common cause are recovering from memory leaks after checking email and web surfing. A lot of resets caused by recovering from lockups caused by Garmin's software. I use a BT headset and phone a lot.
I'll upgrade to A03 soon since I lost the data on my SD card and suffered a hard reset last week.
3 or 4 times a month for me. Though I have to say, I had to reset my previous PDA (Toshiba e570) less than that. Software incompatibility, I guess with the X50v?
man thats quite a few resets... WM must be pretty unstable.
I've been using palms for the last 10 years, and can probably count the resets software or hardware on ONE HAND.
When I was using epoc (before i moved to palm) I could count the number of resets on one hand, While wearing boxing gloves....
certainly on my palm(s) it was probably once a month..
I was really disapointed that it was 4 times a day when i got my axim, but now with me installing programs 1 at a time and seeing how stable they are before committing, better use of BIS, and a couple of rom upgrades it's much more stable. I had to do a reset yesterday and that did suprise me!

i think you still have not reached the "point of perfection" for your Ax...
i would mean is that the perfect mix of apps that are compatible with each other that no conflicts occur, etc.
this is the stage wherein you've reached the point of stability, and the number of daily resets gets reduced day by day as the device becomes more productive...
each one of us has this perfect mix of apps that are not in conflict with each other making the Ax very stable - search through the boards (i remember seeing it once)...
of course, there are cases wherein you absolutely need to have this program that conflicts with the other, then i guess you have to resort except to have multiple soft resets (for me, it was QMail which eats up TOO much memory, and doesnt RELEASE them after an exit - leaving PlanMaker and TextMaker not running... have to soft reset before i use PM and TM)
By point of perfection u mean when u close a program it frees the memory to the amount it was before u run that program ?
cause thats mainly why i reset, i run programs , close them and after a while i see memory isnt cleard good

Yeah. Once a day is a lot of resets, and 5-10 times a day is insane. A lot of WinCE users have this idea that resetting your device is good for it.
It isn't that unstable.
Once I started using wi-fi on my Palms, resets became more and more common. I think my X50v probably resets about as often as the LifeDrive did, it's just that it doesn't take a minute to reboot the device like the LD does.
If I'd had to reset 4+ times a day, I'd probably just go back to Palm. Even the LD wasn't that bad when you were careful of the software you put on it.
I agree with many people who've already posted. How do you function daily with 1 to 10 soft-resets?! Granted, they don't take too long or anything, but still.
I can understand that many resets when you're installing software and getting used to new programs and what not, but even when I was using my ax daily for school, music, wi-fi and whatnot I would only reset twice or thrice every WEEK. Most of the time because of installing/ uninstalling software.
Now that I'm on vacation, I'm not using the Ax as much, but I've been using BT and Wi-Fi much more and still only reset once or twice a week (not counting installing/uninstalling software)
I don't think I'm that much of a power user, but I use some hacks from Tweaks 2k2, PIE, OzVga & SeVga, Adobe pocket reader, Beta Player and Pocket Music, but if I ever had to do more than 5 or 6 resets during daily use I would think that my Ax was defective...

I don't think mine is defective. I think it is just the way it is - unreliable. In terms of stability, I would say a bit more stable than Windows 3.1 and less than Windows 95.
Some users barely crashed 3.1 but I remember rebooting 5X a day. I complained, but lived with it. I am hopeful upgrading to A04 would improve things.
Well, I plainly refused to use Win 3.1. (In those times I had a nice Sun SparcStation with SunOS 4. :))
True, the wireless part is immature. Whether this is an issue with WM2003SE per se or with Dell's implementation, who knows. At any rate those glaring memory leaks should have been found and fixed during beta by either Microsoft or Dell.
The rest is not so bad once you have a stable set of software. But I agree, an OS should be more fault tolerant. And the BT memory leaks in A02 are intolerable. A03, while not perfect, helps a lot. A04 should not be worse. I admit that I am using BT add WiFi less than I would if they worked (better).
I'll soft reset 2-3 times a day mainly because of games and occasional GSplayer. No biggie though.
any issues with GSPlayer?
it is just that i find that there are too many problems with PocketMusic that i am thinking of going to GSPlayer (assuming that it is more stable than most)...
I owned an iPAQ 2210 for two years and was performing 3-5 soft resets a day; on days when I was using it to the full (sat nav, etc).
Having swapped to the X50v... running the same apps... the soft resets are a genuine rarity... once or twice a week. The X50v is a great PDA... it just works.
I reset several times a day...mostly by choice...I do a lot of surfing...so my memory needs cleaning out...I also run memmaid several times a day.
Maybe I am paranoid...but I have SO MUCH stuff on here that I want to take real good care of it......
I listen to mp3's in the car and at home while at my desk..I draw out floor plans and track several projects...all my appointments and to-do lists are on here...I keep track of all my car information and upkeep...and I also use my drawing program a lot.
In the evenings I enjoy streaming "Old Time Radio" shows and listening to them and I also "Chat" quite a bit with my "Little People"....I also use the mail a lot...
...and MOST IMPORTANTLY...at least to my little 94 year old Grandmother who lives with us....I keep track of all the Atlanta Braves games so she doesn't miss a one! Heaven Forbid!! :)
I have a habit to do a soft reset insted to turn off my pda
just reset and close the case, it will turn off by itself with no unneded progs running in memory, and when I turn it on it will happly start to "serve" me :)
Strange that people are so little annored soft-resetting their device.
I have to reset every day to get my X51 to sync with my office PC and I hate that.
I expect this thing to run without resets for weeks.
Before I got my Axim I was using a yakumo with mobile 2003 and I needed to reset only about once a month.
The Axim needs its daily reset for active sync and some more resets if I start/stop many programs.
BTW. I am using Pelmar Wisbar to really close my apps, avoiding cluttering my memory with inactive progs.
I think that M$ did a very bad job on mobile 2005 and active sync 4.
