Exclamation Calendar/Outlook notes disappear

For some reason I am unable to edit and/or add notes to my appointments in Calendar (in the Ax).

I have tried editing/adding notes with all the inputs: keyboard, transcriber, block recognizer, letter recognizer and RipBoard (a true-vga keyboard) and none of them work. I can't even see the blinking cursor.

It seems that calendar "knows" that there should be notes in there - the little icon that indicates that an appointment has notes does show up when I transfer an appointment from outlook (on my pc) to the Ax, but I can't see the notes or edit them either.

This problem came up after I synch'ed via Bluetooth, following the set=up here: http://www.aximsite.com/bluetooth/bt....htm#section10

I already did a hard-reset and upgraded to ROM A04, and using the cradle (USB) the calendar stuff tranfered correctly. I then tried synch'ing through BT again and the same thing happened.

Anyone know of a "fix"? Is this a problem with BT-synch'ing in general? or is my Ax or set-up defective?

I have hardware A00, Rom A04, and use Outlook 2002 and Active-sync 3.7. I tried looking for a similar problem in the forums but found nothing.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. I posted a similar thread and no one could give me an answer.

My calender stops dispalying my notes after a while of normal usage. Its all still there but just not displayed.

All i do is to soft-reset and the notes will appear again.

I suspect this is a device bug and is there before you installed anything.

There is no reply to threads on this; make me wonder how many people really use the X50V's calender utility.

This is very strange. All I can think of now is to adjust the option on activesync for overwriting/replacing between your desktop outlook and pda. I'm using pocket infomant 2005 and have never experienced (yet i'm not using BT for sync.)

emperor9148, how do you sync? USB, Wi-fi or BT? This only happens to me when I sync through BT, but after I sync that way, the problem stays there no matter how I sync aftterward.

I don't remember trying to soft-reset after that, hopefully that'll fix the problem for me too, I'll try more things and let you know what happens...

Thanks a bunch! It's not quiet the problem I was experiencing (I'd actually gotten around that by tapping "edit" whenever I wanted to edit/read notes for appointments, though it is a bit annoying to have to do it every time, even if it's only to read and not actually edit the notes. I actually just tested again -without the switcher bar on- and had the same problem, so I don't know what's going on about that.)

The problem I had was different - it made ALL notes unreadable, even after soft-resets and sync'ing via different methods.

Today, I decided to give it another shot, so I backed up my axim (I didn't want to hard-reset for the 3rd time in one week) and then tried it. and it worked! I did a bunch of different stuff, so I don't know what did the trick.

Here's what I did in the order I remember it
--
Renamed my PC
Installed Activesync 3.8
Deleted old partnerships and created a new one

Backed Up my Ax
Closed all Apps

Turned on BlueTooth
Connected through Activesync
--

I think what may have done the trick was deleting old partnerships, but I'm not sure. So the problem I had before (not being able to see or edit ANY notes), is now solved.

As for the problem in the link you gave me, I might try using a different switch-bar app, but like I wrote before, I tried using calendar without switcher bar and still had that problem (though it's solved by tapping "edit" to read/edit notes)

Thanks for your help and I hope my post helps someone out there :approve:

I ran into this issue this morning when I had put some important information in a calender entry note which, to my surprise, disappeared from my Axim. Cost me about 10 minutes at work today fiddling with the Axim and finally doing a soft reset to recover the lost data.

Interesting that the Task Switcher could cause this data loss in Outlook. And if Switcher causes it, it's at least possible some other app will cause the same behavior. Seems like a database integrity issue with Outlook PPC.

I've been auditioning PPC and Outlook as a possible replacement for my current calendaring and contacts software at work -- and Outlook is failing. I've been using it for less than a week and already encountered a situation where I couldn't reach needed information. Might seem like a minor annoyance but scheduling is "mission critical" in my business.

What worked for me...

...and I don't understand how/why this worked. In Calendar tools->options->appointments. Darken the key icon. True story: I had the calendar notes issue as well as the inability to sync any notes I created on my Axim. This problem nearly rendered my Axim useless. I tried everything that has been suggested in this thread for days with no success. Once I marked the key icon everything worked perfectly. Since then I have been using Pocket Informant with brilliant success. Again, it makes zero sense to me how/why this trick worked, but it did and I'm chalking it up to another glorious victory over the evil Bill Gates!

Thanks, and I'll give that a try. But doesn't there always seems to be a need for some fix or workaround with Outlook?

yeah, for some reason it seems that there's usually a need for a work-around for most windows things and Win-Mobile is no exception

I also realized that this problem was serious once I was trying to contact someone from my insurance company and the note with his contact-info was gone :realmad:

Just wondering, do you sync with more than one computer? In my case, I think that may have caused some sort of problem, but it's just a guess.

Odd "fix"... somehow pocket-Outlook is working fine for now, but if it comes up again, I'll give it a shot :approve:

Nope. I only synch data using a single partnership on my home computer (using the cradle, not by wifi or bluetooth). A few times at work I set up a guest partnership to load programs, etc., but didn't synch any data.

Hi,

Sounds like a similar issue....
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=81197

Do contact notes also disappear for anyone affected in this thread?

Thanks,

Dave
