Ok, I was in virtual display mode (1680x1280 methinks) and was panning around when an alarm went off (appointment) it froze-up, wouldn't respond, after 15 seconds the backlight went out (because that is what I set it to) and it wouldn't light back up after I tapped on the screen(frozen).

That's it for now,
Jordan :)

P.S. I found that "today screen zoom" option you told me about

:) found another (little) one :)

NVD was configured in landscape (right-handed) mode (1280x960) using one of the "presets" I went to "Standard" and then was surfing the web and I got the "click ok to continue loading the page" in pocket i.e. except the edge of the message was off the screen (like the window was two wide) The same thing happened in NVD when it popped-up a message about changing res. to "NVD Disabled"(before soft-reset).
Also as a side note, when in 1280x960 mode, the messages appear in the top, left portion of the screen vs centered in the middle.

Having fun!
Jordan

skirep - The current release is NVD 4.04. If you purchase that version, the registration code you will receive will work on the NVD 4.2 Beta as well. You will also get a free upgrade to the final release of NVD 4.2 when it becomes available.

Jordan - OK it looks like the blank screen issue has been fixed. This fix should address some of the other hangs as well. Also, this is very exiting, support for 1280x1024 has been added! We'll probably release a Beta 2 within the next few days. Please check back on the Dell Axim X50v Beta Test Page for more info.

The last issue you mentioned is a difficult one to fix from our end. Some applications, and parts of the OS, are saving the display resolution values that they detect when they start up and they are using these saved values when positioning dialogs, etc. later on. When you dynamically change resolution these cached values are not updated. This is why the message box was still being rendered for a 1280x960 screen even though you had switched to 480x640. Ideally programs should get the resolution values every time they need them (it's only 2 lines of code afterall) but alas...

The NVD 4.2 Beta 2 is now available. Please visit our Dell Axim X50v Beta Test Page for more info.

Beta 2 fixes several lock up bugs and now supports physical resolutions of 1280 x 1024 on the external monitor! Of course the virtual resolution could be even higher.

Hi

I finnaly got time to thoroughly test it and I am very impressed!!. All I can say is wow. It really makes my pocketpc a Full desktop

And now I am reading that 1280*1024 will be supported soon. :approve:

Just one little question:P. In NVD setting->external display there is an option to select output type. At the moment there is only VGA. But asumming that the option is there for some purpose I wondered if other output are planned to be support(if that is even posiible?).

anyway, Great App. truely amazing

thanks :)

Thanks for the good review.

The output type selection will depend on the chosen adapter. The Dell Axim only supports a VGA connection. We also support adapters from Colorgraphic, LifeView, Margi, Icuiti (head mounted) and Toshiba. The Colorgaphic Voyager and LifeView FlyPresenter support composite and S-Video ouput (NTSC and PAL) as well as VGA. These devices can be directly connected to a television, VCR, etc.

There are a number of VGA to TV converters which could probably be used with the Axim but we have not tested NVD with any such hardware so I don't have a recommendation. Maybe someone else out there has tried this?

I tried it butit did not display properly in 1280*1024, the image was not crisp on most parts of the display and the right part op the image was cut off. Resizing and/or auto-resizing did not help..

hope this helps

[EDIT] I am running rom version A03 [EDIT]

m@arten - Are you sure your display supports 1280x1024 @ 60Hz? I had two monitors that claimed to but did not in practice.

without any doubt.. I use it al the time
It is a Dell tft 1703FP and I use it @1280 all the time.
I also tested it on a other tft monitor(Medion) and it had the same effects..

I hope its not a specific problem of my axim. maybe it is the rom version?

greetz

m@arten - I don't think it's the ROM as this is most likely a hardware issue. Do you normally use the digital or the analog input to the monitor? I know it works well at 1280x1024 (aside from some slight interference patterns) on the Dell 1905FP which is similar to the 1703FP but I did have problems with an HP f1903 which works fine at 1280x1024x60 with a digital input but not with the analog input. The 1703FP may have similar issues.

I always use both the monitors I tested with the Analog input. and they are both expierencing the same problems.. I don't think It can be the monitors because they both always run at 1280*1024 60hz (not 16bit though, but I checked that setting too, and it worked flwaless).

anyway, I hope you can solve it..

thank for your support

Is there any possibility of up`ing the vertical refresh rate to 70 hz? The flicker at 60hz is noticable to me.
Thanks

Guess what!?!?!

:) I Found a bug that wasn't (at least I Think wasn't) in the original beta...

when in landscape, right handed mode, using the 1280x960 preset, clicking on the "Gold Pot" or should I say "double tapping", the menu fails to draw properly, just a tiny box.... Hope you know what I'm talking about (or at least replicate it)
