I am able to replicate this problem now and I think it might be a conflict with macromedia® flash player for ppc (or whatever it is called).

1. Start with NVD disabled, then open nvd settings and switch to the 1280x960 landscape mode, preset. (hit "ok" and it will soft reset).
2. open PIE and go to a flash site (http://whoppix.hackingdefined.com/Whoppix-wepcrack.html Note: I am in no way promoting this site and am only using it for demonstration purposes.) try tapping on the "gold pot" menu still works fine? try tap-and-holding on the flash movie and wait till the flash player menu comes up, then the problem should occur.

All I can say is "I'm impressed!" I just hooked it up to a monitor and it is really awesome. When loading pages, horizontal lines go across the monitor, is the problem PIE's fault or is it NVD's fault, or does the problem lie in the hardware...?

Any update on the external display vertical refresh rate issue?

There should be no problem to setting this up as a variable value that endusers could select from a pull-down - say a range of 60Hz through to 80Hz in 5Hz steps.

What about 1280x1024 externally? :)

Thanks for any improvements!

How do I use an external display?

The only option I ever get under "External Display" tab is "(Disable External Display)". I've got an external monitor hooked up and can use it by mirroriing the monitor, but not through nyditot itself.

The nyditot help page says:
Quote:
Select the External Display Device you wish to use. Only those devices that have been installed properly will appear in the pick list.
How do I "properly install" an external LCD monitor on my x50v?

new2axim,

You should see "Dell Axim X50v VGA Out" when you drop the pick list that start out with "(Disable External Display)". Do you not see this?

Also, do you see any of the sample configurations named "Axim X50v VGA Out ..."? There should be 4 of them.

Also, please click Start > Settings > System tab > System Information and let me know the ROM Version you have installed.

Nope. No "Dell Axim x50v VGA Out" and no x50v configurations either.. Hmmm... should I try reinstalling it?

I did get one of those windows during the installation that said (and I'm paraphrasing) "this was made for an old version of your Axim and may not run correctly" or something like that.

Thanks for the reply

Well crap. I'm using an older version of your software. I had downloaded it a while back (before I even got my Axim, because I knew I wanted to try it) and just got around to installing it. It's some older version, and not 4.21

My guess is that's the problem. If I'm wrong, let me know, but otherwise I'll shut up now :)

So I'll try just uninstalling and install the new version.

Thanks

Anything prior to NVD 4.20 will not work with the X50v's VGA output but if you have one of the 4.2 Betas (I or II) it should have worked. Nevertheless click here here's to download NVD 4.21.

@ Nyditot

Any updates on supporting the Think Outside bluetooth Mouse? That would be a killer feature (at least for me). Also, I do have a monitor now and it is impressive... just lacking mouse support, If you need me to do anymore beta testing for supporting that feature I'll be more than happy to.

One more thing, were you able to replicate my issue? The problem also randomly occured while I was doing something else, and I couldn't replicate it.

I installed the Virtual Display program using cabinstall and installed both the 96dpi pack and the VD program to seperate folders in built-in storage. Upon restarting, I got a big popup that said it could not find a required EXE. I uninstalled and got the same popup after soft reset. I then tried removing it again from the remove programs applet and it was successful.

However, upon trying to remove the 96dpi pack, I get an error that \Windows\tshres.96.dll is in use and the uninstall is unsuccessful. I checked in running programs and there is nothing running.

What am I doing wrong? Can this program NOT be installed anywhere except RAM?

-edit-

OK, evidently it CANNOT be installed ANYWHERE but RAM, or you will get the errors that I got. Maybe this should be noted in the install instructions until a setup is made.

Also, the program screws up my screen when trying to run Mapopolis when any virtual display is enabled. I don't see how people ARENT reporting bugs left and right, I couldn't find one reliable mode...
