Nyditot Virtual Display Beta Testers Wanted
We've been working very hard to support the X50v's external monitor capabilities in Nyditot Virtual Display. It looks like we're almost there but we could use a little help Beta testing. If any of you have an X50v and the VGA output cable and would like to help us test, please check out our NVD 4.2 Beta. In a nutshell, ALL application can now be viewed on a high resolution, external monitor, not just those that come with the Presentation Bundle.
Click here for more information. Thanks, Mark Davis Nyditot

Hello. Thanks for the program! It's working awesome! Now, I don't need Oz_VGA and I can get rid of clearvue Suite too!
The only problems I've encountered so far is: - When playing movie with TCPMP/betaplayer, I cannot get the menu to popup. - The button which I assigned for Rotation now does something weird and no long functions normally. As a suggestion, it would be good if it would allow us to Map one of the buttons to allow for bringing up the Settings menu.

Hey this sound pretty intresting.
![]() I just wondered some things. what is the max resolution it can handle for external displays, The 2700g chip is suposed to handle up to 1280*1024, can this app do that too? Also is the displayed image hardware rendered or software rendering. I have used older versions of nyditot on my old pda. and I always found it to be rather slow(because of the software rendering). anyway. It sounds very neat ![]() M@arten

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your input. I'll try to answer what questions I can. - There are several NVD icons which can be assigned to hardware buttons: VD Settings Starts the Virtual Display Settings applet VD Menu Shows the same popup menu you get by double-clicking the gold dot. VD Power Toggles display power on and off. VD Previous Toggles between the current and last settings. VD Restore Restores factory settings. I like VD Menu the best as it gives me most of the options I need without going into the full Settings app. - NVD's performance will vary considerably depending upon whether or not you are magnifying/demagnifying and by how much. By design, the internal and external displays will always have the same virtual resolution but they may have different magnification levels. When the Zoom is 100% you will see the best performance. In this case NVD can go straight to the hardware without having to perform intermediate, on-the-fly magnification. The worst case scenario would be to have both displays compressing a large virtual display to fit within there respective physical areas. As far as using the external display goes, you will see the best performance when you choose one of the external display Physical Modes and set the virtual display to be the same size (you will be prompted) and use the internal display in touch pad mode. Hope that all made sense. - Yes the 2700g can support physical modes up to 1280x1024 but we were having some problems with that mode during testing. Intel is looking into this so hopefully we'll be able to support it in the final release. Side note: The various external display vendors (Colographic, Margi, LifeView, Toshiba, Dell, etc.) have limited their focus to using a PDA as a presentation device but our goal is to enable a PDA to function as the primary (only?) computer for many users. All they really need is the ergonomics of a large display, pointing device and keyboard. The first two are supplied by one of the external display adapters mentioned above and NVD in touch pad mode. The latter has several options. Personally I'm using the Dell Executive Bluetooth keyboard (a rebranded Think Outside). Obviously this isn’t a solution for everyone but I’d like to hear your comments as to whether or not this is possible for some users and who they might be (e.g. traveling salesman, insurance adjusters, etc.). Thanks again,

Last night, I went into the settings: vd settings, settings tab, changed the width and height (no monitor plugged in) and did the soft-reset when it was almost done restarting, a warning message popped-up about being 4 days etc. till trial runs out, I had to drag the message box, back and forth to read the message then it froze before I could it "ok", I soft-reset and then shut my Axim off, the next morning I turned it back on and the display was all white (blank, white screen) I soft-reset again and ran the vd restore (actually I tried turning off my Ax several times, same thing) vd restore didn't change anything (I had put it to default settings when I soft-reset the first time and then manually put them back)
So basically, every time I shut off my AximX50v I get a Blank, white screen.

Hmm? I'm not able to replicate your problem here. Normally when the device is powering back on the screen will flash white for a moment then the the display comes up. You device appears to be locking up during that process.
The 96 DPI Resource Pack "shouldn't" be causing any problems. There's nothing executable in that software. It's just a bunch of resources (images, dialogs, etc.) rendered for 96 DPI rather than the default 192 DPI. My best guess would be that there is a conflict with some third party software. When looking for a conflict I would recommend the following: 1) Make a complete backup. 2) Perform a hard reset. 3) Install and test NVD on the pristine device. If all goes well proceed to the next step. 4) Install suspect third party applications one at a time and test with NVD. 5) When testing is complete, restore the device from the backup made in Step 1. Please let us know if you find a conflict...or not.
