I have a Loox 720 with PXA272 processor which has USB host.. If it would help anyone I can dump the Dlls + Registry...
It works really nice, and you can connect Ipod + Keyboard + Hard disk n stuff without drivers. With drivers, cameras, mice work too :D
So yeah - drop me a PM if you want files or registry..
And regarding Bluetooth/USB host mystery, I seem to remember seeing something similar to that, although I couldn't be sure...

I'm not sure about that one, I bought mine from dell, and you don't need an extra cable, just plug the monitor cable right into the adaptor cable just like on a desktop pc.

Does it look something like the aboved? its kinda too short so maybe an extension would be better. As for the picture its taken off http://pc-mobile.net/ax50.htm and theres 2 other different extension cables there. By the way, you can charge as well while using it right?

If it is the same as mine (which it looks fairly similar) then you will be able to charge at the same time (that is what that second, shorter cable is i presume.)

A Docking Station Would be Great!

Can any one condence the last 52 posts for me?

What would I need to put a 15" flat screen monitor on a bedside table, and use the X50v with a full size keyboard & mouse?

A docking station would solve my problems. Until then, using a full-size monitor with my ThinkOutside BT keyboard & mouse would be a big step. The second step would be the ability to use a large Microsoft Natural Keyboard placed on my lap.

Many thanks.

I've just received that cable (from pc-mobile.net). It has a connector to charge the X50V and a female VGA connector. (The same as on the back of a PC/Laptop). It seems to work great. I haven't yet worked out how to get the high res display that others on here are talking about though.

Just to add one more thing:
That unless you have a 3rd party software, you can't have high resolution and 640x480 is fairly large on the monitor and usually doesn't look especially pretty.

If you buy Nyditot Virtual Display www.nyditot.com you can display at resolutions of 1280x1024 provided you have an X50v BUT the ThinkOutside bt mouse isn't completly compatible (I say "not completely" because I heard from someone that it worked in safe mode, but I haven't had a chance to try it myself).

What's the difference between Nyditot Virtual Display, and ClearVue Suite with ClearVue Presentations?

I just read a review on Pocket PC Thoughts about PC Mobile's VGA cable adaptor, using ClearVue, and
"outputting the contents of your X50v onto a monitor."
ClearVue will only display up to 1024 X 768, but I use my monitors at 800 X 600 (1024X768 when I want to find my out-of-view program groups).

Do you know if ClearVue supports the BT keyboard & mouse? Would the apps that support viewing of different document formats be worth the extra $10?

I don't have a clue about either.

I am going to order PC Mobile's VGA cable adaptor and an extension cable today.

Many thanks.

You really dont need any app's. Just use the Mirror Mode included on your Axim. Otherwise if you wish to display a higher resolution, NVD is your best bet because it displays every program under that resolution, unlike ClearVue which only displays some. Unfortunantly NVD at the moment doesnt support BT Mouse, but keyboards are fine. With NVD you can use the Axim Screen as a touchpad just like on a laptop. IMO NVD is the best bet for you ^^

You're right:

I finally connected my X50v to a monitor -- a 15" flat-screen CRT. I got the cables a couple weeks ago. I dusted off a spare monitor I had stashed under a table in our living room.

I just plugged it up, and tapped on Mirror mode. The LANDSCAPE display almost fills the entire 15" monitor screen. What an awesome display, without any grainy pixelation, and without any extra software. And, the BT mouse works in the normal mode. I am impressed. Desktop, Pocket Word, Inbox/email, File Explorer, all looked terrific. (I didn't try a PDF file.)

But, PORTRAIT mode is a different story. The screen displayed is only 1/3 screen width of monitor, and 1/2 screen height. Small.

Is the Nyditot Virual Display the program I need to expand the portrait mode display?

I tried to connect the Axim to my main monitor when I got the cables, using NVD on a trial basis. But, I didn't know/understand how that program worked, so quit for a later day. It was too complicated for my pea-size brain at that time. It might be time for another trial. (Some Mahjong-type games need the portrait mode to display all the tiles. It'll be easier to play these games with my grandchildren on their next visit -- without having to juggle the Axim.)

Boy, the ThinkOutside BT mouse is slick. You just have to get used to not double-clicking -- just tap&hold.

Color me IMPRESSED.

NVD HARD RESET my X50v!

I should've quit while I was ahead!

I just had to try Nyditot Virtual Display. I don't know what happened, but I was rewarded with a HARD RESET! I couldn't get it to work.

I was fortunate to have Sprite Backup to restore the Axim.
