How do you perform a hard reset?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just bought a house and while I haven't moved yet, I have taken quite a bit of stuff to my new house including the documentation of my x50v. I just upgraded the firmware of my x50v to the A04 version and now I need to perform a hard reset but I forgot how to do it. Can anyone provide me with directions please?

Thanks in advance. :approve:

Press the softreset switch while holding the power button

(then follow the on screen prompt. If you don't get one... you didn't do a hard reset)

that's from memory btw... as i don't want to do a hard reset at the moment

(or you could take the battery out for an hour or so)

Hmm, that sounds weird, as if you just upgraded it should already be hard-reset. When you upgrade your ROM to a newer version all the data stored in the main memory of the pda is erased and replaced with the newer data. If you still want to do it, press the power button and while keeping it pressed, press the reset button at the back of the device. You will then be asked if you want to go ahead and to press the second button from left to right, or the message icon button if you dont want to. Easy cheesy! :)

Hard resets (and A04 upgrades) won't delete your BIS though.

You have to do that yourself

watch out though if anybody else tries !
i did a hard reset and thought id made a complete mess up was ready to phone dell to get a replacement as screen wouldnt shift from the option of deleting info. tried several times with no luck
then realised id accidently switched the lock key on

my only excuse is that it was my first day but still made me feel foolish

You're not a full X50 user until you've done that at least once.. That sudden feeling of panic.. where is the number for dell... relief.. then the feeling of stupidity

We've all been there.. so welcome to the ship of fools
