Problem with gmail on x50v

Ok so I read the guide on how to get gmail to work on pocket outlook but I'm still not getting it to work right.

I can get my email but not send it. The only way I've been able to send email from my axim has been using my isp smtp server. And since I am connecting to lots of different wireless signals depending on where I am (home, work, internet cafe) that server changes.

Is anyone else having the problem?

my settings are

smtp.gmail.com port 465 using SSL

Also my axim's metal covering on the left side has become a bit flimsy. As in it doesn't seem like part of the axim but rather a cheap tin cover (which I guess is what it is). Any ideas on how I can stop it from moving when I grip my axim?

And Finally my axim won't stay on a single wireless connection. It keeps searching and will disconnect from one and go to the other. This is getting to be a major pain anyone know what could be going on?
