Thanks for your prompt response. And yes I have 3 CD's. On the other hand I did not understand the question about charging me for the GPS. Anyway I think i paid a lot of money for it so let me know. Here it goes

650 after tax for the PDA, GPS, 3y Warranty, and 3y break it we replace. Was that OK.

Let me know laters.

Yep that is me and my order date was July 26th.
I hope the replacement unit arrives with the new rev A01 three disk set. If not the whole GPS goes back to Dell for a refund.

How unfortunate. I saw your post while I was loking for specific information on the DELL GPS system. I hope you'll get the updated version soon.

Do you happen to know how they handle the situation, if "only" the GPS unit (but not the Axim) is returned? I am assuming they should be treated as two separate items/orders. For instance, after placing one order, now I have two order numbers, and their totals are: GPS system - $150.61, Axim X50V $270.46 (after all the coupons and tax). I hope it will work fine and I will keep it. Besides, DELL GPS is still at least $100-150 cheaper than buying a BT receiver + map software.

Thanks in advance for the info!

Talk about selling something you don't have...Oh well I was able place the order online with a rep in India, she gave me a $100 concession coupon and allowed me to order the X50v without the GPS...so my price before tax for the X50v was $261.32 - I got all the discounts, without the extra expense..now all I can hope for is they get more batteries in so they can begin shipping out the orders.

1 Axim X50v, Intel 624MHz, 128MBROM 64MB SDRAM, 3.7iVGA, 802.11b, BT $261.32
1 Free Windows Mobile 5.0 Upgrade CD with any Dell Axim X50 Order - Will Ship in October 2005 $0.00
1 USB Travel Sync Cable/Cradle for Dell Axim X50 Handheld $0.00
1 Type 11 Contract - Handheld A dvance Exchange 2 Year LimitedWarranty Coverage. $0.00
1 Technical Support, Electronics, Initial Year $0.00
1 Technical Support, Electronics, 1 Year Extended $0.00
1 Type 11 Contract-Handheld Ad vance Exchange 1Yr Limited Warranty. $0.00
1 1100mAh Secondary Battery for Dell Axim X50 Handheld $16.51
1 Dell Axim X50 Aluminum Hardcase, Factory Install $11.79
Sub-Total $289.62
Shipping $0.00
Tax $18.11
Total Price $307.73

Dell covers their bases by giving you the worst case scenario on when it will be shipped. That's why you see ppl saying "They said it wouldn't ship until the 9th, but it shipped on the 3rd."

Hope this helps.

FIRST POST!
Federal crime?? For shipping past a quoted ship date? I highly doubt that. Orders are not legally binding contracts. If you can prove to me otherwise (link to real law statutes), I'd believe you. Otherwise, I don't think that I will.

Anywho, I'm surprised it's taking for all these x50s to ship. I remember when I got mine back in December. Man, did that thing ship quick. You just have to remember, Dell usually ships well before the estimated ship date. If you're still concerned, give them a call or use their chat (which is easier).

Good luck... It's worth the wait!

How does one get his/her hands on these "concession coupons" that everyone is talking about? Are they being issued to people, who are having some "problems" with an order and/or product. I'd doubt that they will be willing to give out these coupons to people with "delayed" X50V orders; or, do they??!?!

Yeah.. great, I got my delay notice. ::Sigh::, I was hoping to have this and get some GPS set up for a road trip I've got in a couple weeks. Oh well. Anyone had any luck getting anything extra out of dell for the delay, even a coupon for next time or something?

first post here...

I was one of the unlucky who ordered tuesday morning, and got their order delayed. I wrote an email asking why it was delayed, because for some reason the chat help thinks im not a home or home office customer. After receiving no response, I called several times, only to speak to a few people overseas, that didn't help at all. I finally got an email back, but it was clearly a pre written response as they had addressed it to somebody else, and left that persons name in the email.

From the email...
"Mr. Cole, the delay of your order is an exception rather than the norm. I would like to reassure you that we are attempting our best to ship all orders on or before the current estimated ship date. However, we are unable to guarantee any specific shipping date owing to the parts availability issue."

Now...my name is not Mr. Cole, or anything close. I wrote a pretty steamed email to them about their terrible customer service, and I straight up asked for a 75 dollar concession. Well it worked like a charm. Got my concession in about 15 minutes, as well as free next day delivery upgrade. Now lets hope it ships sooner than the 19th.

I think if you act really mad, they will give you a concession. Dont be afraid to ask for it.

Glad to be here.

That's okay,
I ordered mine on the 26th. Asked for overnight shipping ($16.00). I was informed that the package (the $418 package) would ship on the 28th and i'd have it on the 29th.
Well at 5:30 pm, EST on the 28th; I received an email that it was delayed until August 19th. I called customer care, "I'm sorry the customer care phone center is currently closed"
I called Friday and was given a number to some department, like the delay explaination dept or something. On hold for 10 minutes until I got a message to leave a voicmail to accept or cancel the order.
Called back 5 times, never got through. I finally called back customer care and the sent a message and said someone would call me back that day, never happened.
Friday night I call and speak with some guy named 'Roy' who sounds a lot like 'Josh', the guy I spoke with before ;)
He says that the order is showing that it is awaiting courier pick up! YEAH!!!!
However my order status never updates. I called Saturday to verify and guess what, the Rep says, "No, it's still in production and won't ship until the 19th of August".

I ordered mine on July 26th and it was suppose to ship out on the 28th. It's now been delayed til Aug 18! Anyhow, I emailed Dell Customer Service and told them how this was a birthday gift and that the delay date would be way passed the birthday. I told them I was disappointed and it was a big inconvenience. Mentioned something about how Dell is known for their #1 customer service, etc. I got a reply back and they upgraded me to overnight shipping and offered me a Dell all in one 922 printer for free once I received my x50v. I replied back saying I did not need another printer but if there was any kind of discount I could get on a future purchase. They happily replied and gave me a $75 concession coupon.

Hi all,

I think the main problem with Dell at the moment is that hey have told a lot of their big customers that they can get ultra cheap prices as the half yearly is coming up...

When I heard this I ordered 2 Axim X50v's (1 for a friend) on Wed July 27th and they arrived on Fri 29th at 11 in the morning....

and now Im off to find out why my wifi wont work properly...

regards

Actually, my concession coupon was because they cancelled my order twice and made the ship date three weeks out instead of two days like the original order.

They said once it ships I might be able to call back and get additional discounts.
