Is your X50V order "delayed"?

I ordered my X50V + GPS on Tuesday (7/26). The estimated ship date for the X50V was 7/28, and for the GPS was 8/10. Today I received an e-mail from DELL saying that the order will not be shipped until 8/19
I was just wondering if this is a general delay (suplies, etc) or has something to do with ordering as a bundle.
Could anyone, who has placed an order over the last few days, comment if they also received a delay notice? Regardless of the answer being yes or no, could you also mention if it was an order for ONLY X50V or a bundle with GPS.
Thanks very much for your time!

Dell doesn't stock a lot of the products it sells, they're produced to order...it the case of handhelds, they're usually manufactured by HTC to fill Dell's existing orders. Not sure about the GPS though.

Nope, it shipped last night, UPS website says it should be here tomorrow, the 29th.

I bet it has to do with your GPS model....I just got the basic one stripped down to the bones.

edit: ordered mine Tuesday night, the 26th.

No go ahead and complain about Dells CS....Out of box stuff is a no brainer for Dell...in fact it SHOULDN'T take more than 24 hours for them to ship anything which they do not have to build...two or three days for instock items of a NONBUILD nature is very poor shipping if you ask me. Most companies like Newegg or Buy.com, etc. will ship in 24 hrs, not 48-96 like Dell seems to do.....laptops and desktops are different of course.

I ordered mine on July 8th, and it came on July 22. I called Dell, and asked them if they could take any part of the order off to help speed up the process, and it was the actualy Dell (x50v) that was the problem.

For the basic X50v?? Did you order anything extra (cases, memory, GPS, etc)?? When did you place your order?

Thanks... So, I am not the only one

I bet LOTS of people ordered X50V after seeing the final price when the 35% off + $120 off coupon combined. Heck, I was not planing to order one until October (when the new OS will be released); after seeing the coupon deals and the fact that the new OS CD will be provided for free in October, I jumped on it :)

I ordered number of things from DELL before. Their "estimated" days are off most of the time. I guess we'll just wait.....

Even for out-of-box stuff, Dell does not stock any of those items in their warehouse. Their business model always has been just-to-order. Their stockroom is filled with only items for which they have received order. They save money this way and certain amount of savings is passed onto the consumer. And that is why you find a difference of $150+ between a X50v and iPaq 4700. If you got your X50v for $250 after all the deals and coupons then waiting an additional couple of days has given you a savings of around $350 over the iPaq model.

The other online retail stores, have those items physically in stock and that is why they are able to ship within 1-2 days.

I personally don't mind waiting for an additional couple of days if I am able to save $200+ on my purchase. But then that's just me.

Completely agree... As long as they ship it eventually I dont mind waiting -especially since I have a PDA to take care of my stuff at the moment. Besides, this will give me enough time to read all the tutorials on the aximsite :)

I ordered the x50v bundle with the bluetooth GPS and secondary battery on 7/25 in the late evening. I received everything today(7/28).

The x50v shipped via UPS and the GPS via DHL. The GPS had an initial ship date estimation from Dell for 8/9. The secondary battery shipped in the same box as the x50v.

I am very pleased with the speedy delivery for both items. I also am pleased with the deal I got. $416 for everything before tax.

Now I'm just waiting on everything to charge.....

I received the same email this morning. I was eagerly waiting for my X50v to come, but it's so sad that I have to wait for another week.

I got a similar delay msg from Dell when I ordered mine a couple weeks ago but the unit ended shipping on the original promised date. Go figure.
