bunch of axim x50v questions.

1) i can't get anything i compress using lots of codecs to show on my axim, it seems windows media wont play a damn thing.
what good is it, it wont even play a wmv a windows codec.
duh.
I need to be able to show full frame video, anyone know how to do this? free would be better, i mean what the heck codec does the windows media support, like what One codec?

2) I run a gps (dell) with blue tooth.
when i run it the axim gets dog slow.

I understand it's a memory issue.

Why does axims come with such limited ram, and why is there this confusing shared storage and memory for programs..
no one would want storage - everyone would want memory for programs.. why is that even an option?

How would you remove programs stored in the storage area so taht the axim has it's full ram for programs?

3) is your axim's silver material on the buttons flaking off.
mine is.

4) anyone know of any good word games like cinco, scrabble for pocketpc? I like the games that help build vocabulary.

5) whats a good free image viewer for the pocketpc?

thanks everyone
peter

1) Use Beta Player (now called TCPMP). You can find it at:
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about

2) Dont install any apps to main memory, install them to either BIS or to a memory card. The ONLY thing I have installed to main memory is Pocket Plus.

If you already have things installed into Main memory, uninstall them and then reinstall in the new location.

3) No, but it is only a month old.

4) Dont know

5) Dont know about a free one as I use the Resco Photo Viewer.

I use XnView Pocket, I think it's free.

Only install apps in main memory when they need it (and very few do - only really very technical programs like MultiIE which play tricks with the OS need to be in Main Memory). You're right, the memory system sucks. I intend to upgrade to WM05 as soon as it's out as it features a new, saner memory management system.

I love Text Twist, it and various others are for sale at Astraware's site.

Oh, and use TCPMP. It rocks.

1. Windows Media Player is a useless soft. Try BetaPlayer ( now TCPMP)

3. Nope. Now 2 months and no problem there.

5. Resco Photo Viewer is free and supplied on the Dell CD. You can also download the update for "dell only"

mine was partially flaked, So I flaked it all, and drew it back with ultra-high precision with a silver permanent marker. IT LOOKS even better!!!!!! LOL!!

and be sure you run at 624 mhz.

And why does the Axim comes with limited ram? Ram EATS alot of battery. It needs constant power to retain information. I personally think that the Axim Battery's already suck, with more rams, it would be suicide. You just gotta know how to use it properly!
