Obviously...good info. If time is money, how many $$$ are wasted by scanning and fishing and looking for "deals" - waiting to buy something? There is a cost benefit trade-off, is there not? The answer seems to be a matter of early adopters (who generally don't care about the price if the productivity and value is sought after) versus later adopters (who want the technology but can't afford it until it hits a specific price point). I would rather have waited for the x50v to come down to $250 since that is my (albeit subjective) prive point - I stayed with my x5 and skipped the x3 and x30, jumping on the x50v because it gave me a suitable leap in technology and improvement. Calligraphy works better due to the higher resolution, and as an appliance, it really improved my work-flow. With respect to pricing, buyers might simply better plan for obsolecence in 3 years and do the math to suit the budget...then consider the cost of your time and lack of greater productivity in the balance. Coupons cannot replace this kind of common sense...unless the purchase is just to have some bragging rights, of course. At $400 for an Axim, the cost is more than reasonable spread over its actual, usable life.

We ordered about 65 grand in machines, and S&P from dell. Anyway, our S&P rep hooked me and my boss up (only two of us in IT) for the chunk of change we dropped. For thankyou gifts, on our first small order, she gave us both X50v's and threw in Rhino's and screen protectors. Then with the large order, and I know it is a tough one to believe. We both(yes, each of us) got 42 dell plasma's as thankyou gifts from her. I don't know how she did it, but she did. All she did on the paper work was put down that they were a penny each for accountability. Now I look forward to our next order comming up here in a few days. What can I get next?
Keep in mind, if it depends on what department you are working with. For some reason, S&P reps seem to have more headroom than a hardware rep would. We couldn't really squeeze anything out of our hardware rep, but our S&P flat out said " Howz about some plasma tv's?". Of course, we had to double take on that and remind her that there are two of us. "Yea, so?"

I wish I knew. I'm trying to find some info about it, bc I too am looking for a bluetooth keyboard, and don't have the money to spend 100 bucks on one...
That'd be great, BUT cities exceedingly seldom let their employees keep gifts, no matter how small. Maybe, MAYBE, the department could keep it. Personally, as much as I want an X50v
(and believe me, I'm drooling like wild at the thought  ) I don't want to loose my job over it. SIGH!

Thanks for the info, I was a first time Dell purchaser for my X50v, and I never know about this.
Anyways, I am in Canada and I assume same tricks with work here?
Thanks
i tried dealing with dell ovr the phone, and the rep said "hold on let me ask my mgr if i can drop the price that low" he came back and said no, so i used the online coupon codes and got a better price.
but man! i really want the 2405 badly. just too pricey for my wallet at $870 otd.(about the cheapest i seen it)

Hate to spoil the party, but if I were your employer, you'd be fired. Taking compensation like you did for an order is a huge conflict of interest. You're not likely to get the best deal for your employer if you know a given rep is going to reward you if you place the order with them. I'm sure you've already rationalized the situation in one way or another. All I can say is you better not get caught.
