x50v Screen Refresh is Slow

I recently got a new x50v but am surprized that the screen refresh is slow, particularly noticeable when returning to the today screen from an all white screen. You can see the wallpaper rolling down from top to bottom. Anyone else notice this?

could be a memory issue. try a soft reset and see if it still does it. if it does check your memory and see if you are low.

It's a new pda with nothing on it as yet. I did a soft reset, went into Calculator, closed calculator, and there it is: a slow rolldown of the today screen.

If you set your processor speed to 208MHZ, it will be slow.
If you set your processor speed to 624MHZ, it will be fast.
So its not the refresh rate, its processing speed.
Anyway, its not so bad.

For now, the x50v simply doesn't perform as well as other PPCs in screen draw operations, since it needs to draw 4 times the amount of pixels all the time. Because of this, a mid-end x50 will appear faster than the x50v in some cases. But IMO the performance drop is worth it for the VGA screen, and hopefully Windows Mobile 5 will have more of the OS using the Intel 2700g for a big performance boost.

If you go to the memory tweaks page on this site, there is a registry change you can make to allow more memory for the screen cache. This speeds the screen up considerably.
