Another newbie post + timing a purchase?

Hi folks.

I just recently decided that I would like (notice I didn't say 'need') a GPS unit to put in my car.

After checking prices I discovered I didn't want to pay $6-700 for a dedicated unit if I could buy something that also allowed me to check email and surf the web for those very few occasions when I'm staying in a hotel.

First thought about buying a used laptop and somekind of GPS combo but after some more research I've decided to purchase an x50v with a haicom hi-305III and iGuidance maps.

My first plan is to buy an x50v as cheap as I possibly can. I know that I just missed a great deal by 2 or 3 weeks but I'm wondering if anyone knows when the next sale will be? I'm not against buying refurbished.
