Is it switched off or not?

Hi all,

I have had my X50v for about a week, not used it too much yet until my satnav doftware arrives.

I have a question, possibly a stupid one,

Yesterday I was using it on battery power, did what I had to do and pressed the top centre power button and the screen goes blank.

I assume it is switched off, the bluetooth light carried on flashing for about 3 mins then went out. (the PDA is set to switch off after mins of idle when on battery power)

But then about 3 opr 4 mins later, I had not touched it, it was sitting at the side, not on charge or anything, and it starting syncing with my laptop over my Wi-Fi.

How is it doing this if it is supposed to be switched off?

I then tried to fire it up, but it would come back on, the only way was to do a soft reset.

Any ideas what is up?

Btw, it did it on ROM A04 and now again on A05 :?

Thanks
Jack

There are a few possibilities.
1. You probably have setup scheduled syncing active hence the reason why your device turned on by itself
2. You might know this, but if press and hold the power switch the device's backlight is switched of but the screen remains on (but it looks like it's off). This is the reasom why the bluetooth light flashes for 3 minutes. If you press the button without holding the device goes off and the bluetooth light stops flashing immediately
3. Pocket PCs are never truely off, they just go into some sort of sleep mode. their RAM memory has to be constantly powered or you'll loose all the information you have stored in RAM.

my pda did the same thing. it is not normal. when battery was very low it said that in 10 seconds it will turn off. a few seconds after turn off it turns itself back on and again starts the count down. and it keeps going until battery is all out. soft rest does not help.
so I updated to A05 and for now this problem is gone.
