Activesync woes - Please help
All of a sudden, Activesync has stopped being able to connect to my X50V today. I was using 3.8 and it was fine till now. So far, here's all that I've tried:
Activesync 3.8 and 4.0
Hard reset - twice
Called Dell tech support
Restarted PC several times
Removed some startup programs
Nothing has helped so far. I've tried searching the forums but no one seems to have had this problem to this extent. Please help me.

Sounds like your PC may have something wrong with it. Keep trying to get it installed and check for spyware and viruses as these may be signs of trouble for axtivesync. Also, you may want to try installing Activesync in safe mode if that is possible. It may be some conflict in the regualr windows.

I have done a full system restore back to 2 days ago and it's still not working. I even did a spyware scan but that was clean too. This is SO frustrating. Somebody's gotta know what to do!?!

Is the USB port that your Axim is connected still functional? Did you unplug your Axim and plug another USB device to be sure that the port is still fine?

Yes. I've tried using all my USB ports and it doesn't work. I tried using Activesync on my other computer and it works fine, which leads me to believe that something is wrong with my laptop. I'll be doing a full factory restore on my laptop tomorrow (which it needs anyway after 3 years of heavy use).

If you tried your USB ports with other devices -not only with Axim- and they dont work, then take a look at this thread:
Dead USB ports

My USB mouse and external hard drive are working fine. I doubt it that the USB port is the problem.

It does indeed sound like something went wonky on the laptop. I know what three years of heavy use (without a wipe/reload) can do.
After you reload back to factory spec, let us know how it turns out. I'm willing to bet that your problem will be fixed.
(I'm assuming your laptop runs XP?)
EDIT: I placed a pin! :approve:

That's a good news! At least the ports are not the problem and are still intact...

Well I hard reset my Axim, and performed a much needed factory restore on my laptop. Everything seems to be working fine now (knock on wood). Hope it stays that way!
