Weird PIE ?

Hi guys, been happily wifing at home the last few days on my 50v! Great as I need not have to log on my pc for quick surfing or 'fight' over the pc.
Is it normal for PIE to shut down and return to the main Today screen when some sites somehow are 'unfriendly' to PIE? One example is - www.cnet.com. The pages loads but after 5 seconds, it switches to Today main page!

Any clues why? Or this is expected. Thanks.

I believe it is caused by macromedia flash player...do you have that installed?

It's not a flash issue. Native PIE can't handle cnet.com. Try an alternative browser. Netfront works.

I haven't tried cnet from PIE. I will now though. I've got MMFlash ActiveX plugin
installed. Should be interesting. BRB

My fault I forgot to mention I have multiIE, a PIE enhancer running as well plus I'm using an X50v. Same OS though.

I'll turn off multiIE and rreport back with what happens shortly.

Where's here BTW joe? I'm mobile and would have to check your profile to see the location info you may have added.. Back to the test!

I ran this test before I posted. Native PIE doesn't work, even though MMF is installed.

So this specific issue is not related to flash, but more likely javascript.

BTW, it's well documented that the MMF plugin does cause problems with X50s, but seems unrelated to this specific site.

How do I know this? Because MMF works with no problems on my X5, yet cnet still crashes using PIE. So it just be something else. Regardless, it appears that both Netfront and MultiIE work based on your results.

Well guys and girls I managed to screw the pooch with that last test. Turning off multiIE caused me to crash to the dreaded memory error message and despite my sig the latest backup I did was only PIM so I no longer have the Macromedia Flash ActiveX Plug-in and at 3:00 AM EST I'm not in the moood to rebuild my device right now. It really did work for me though KPDUTY. No Please Press OK to continue messages either. I need a new tag line on my sig.

Sorry to hear anout the crash.

I'm not questioning your success with MultieIE, just confirming -that native PIE doesn't work.

It's late here too 1/4 to 5 in the morning [or is it now early]...oh well, might as well stay up now since I have a real early tee time.

Good luck withh your restore

We're in the same timezone! It's 5:08 AM here. I forgot to set the time after the crash. I've got my bluetooth modem setup fields memorized though so I'm back online. :)

Seeing as how I didn't have a current backup available I really, really, really have to change my sig's tagline. Any suggestions before I post this to the Water Fountain. I haven't setup a poll in a long while. ;)

Hi guys, tried Netfront but a few issues:
1. Its not optimised for v50 vga screen - edgy fonts and pics.
2. Real slow browsing with a lot of delays when loading web pages.

Is this expected?
