I received my Axim v50 last week with the Audio Vox GPRS card, and I have been very disappointed with it.
My main gripe with the device is GPRS card sticks out the top of the device by 10cm, which means you have to carry round the CF card separately, and plug it in whenever you want to use it. This kind of defeats the object of it being a 'Pocket PC'.
My second gripe is that I complained to Dell about the card, and they basically could not care less, and just told me call AudioVox... despite the fact that Dell sold me the product...
Running the Axim side by side with the iPAQ, I have to agree with other reviewers when they say the clarity of the screen (esp colours), is poor on the Axim, especially when trying to use it in a car running SatNav software....
I am now selling the device and purchasing the XDA/MDA, which has everything built in (GPRS/GSM/Wi-Fi), a built-in sliding keyboard, whilst still maintaining a decent screen size (as opposed to the 6515) ....
I am sharing this so other people dont make the same mistake as I did.
You know sometimes i wonder why i reply to the GSM CF cards. I made all the points about the audiovox one....
I like the MDAs i have one.. but if you don`tlike the screen on the X50V you are going to have a major disapointment with any of the MDAs

I'm not really sure how its Dell's fault that Audiovox's card sticks out too far. Seriously, what were you expecting them to do about it? They're just the 'store' in this case, not the OEM.
Dell had nothing, zero, nada to do with the design of the card, you should have called Audiovox.
If I bought a Canon digital camera from Dell.com, its somehow Dell's fault if I don't like it? Think about it.
Sounds to me like you needed the XDA in the first place, I personally want the WM 2005 upgrade, not a unit stuck on WM 2003SE.
Yeah, I wouldn't hold your problem with Dell. I don't see how it is their fault when another company's product doesn't work with their product exactly how you would like it to. It sounds to me that you already have your mind made up. Enjoy.
I do take on board the points made that Dell did not make the CF card and the CF slot is a standard size... But Dell sell the Audiovox product and offer it as a GPRS/GSM solution for the Axim. I dont think the Audiovox product is a good fit for the Axim, due to the fact that the Axim is a 'pocket pc' and with the Audiovox card in, you cannot put the device in a pocket, else the card will break. So it is completely unpractical to keep the card in all the time.
I dont like the way Dell washed their hands and say "Go talk to AudioVox".... I dont buy this "Dont blame me, I am just the middle man" argument... With the card Dell are the middleman granted, but they are offering it up as a GPRS solution ... and if Dell put something on their site for customers to buy, I presume they have done their homework on it and it works well together.... If you buy a branded fridge from an electrical store and it does not fit in your kitchen, you send it back to the electrical store, you dont start contacting the manufacturers of the fridge...

Uhhh... If you buy a fridge and THEN find out it doesn't fit, isn't that YOUR fault in the first place and not the store's? It would make sense to me to check out the area you are wanting to put the fridge in first and then buy it. Maybe you should have done that with the Audiovox card in the first place then you wouldn't have had this problem.
By the way, Dell is offering an option for GPRS. You just don't happen to like the cosmetics of it. That's your own choice.
I would expect a reasonable Electrical store to see the customer was not happy and take the fridge back, especially when it was the Electrical store salesman who was offering me that specific fridge as a solution for my refridgeration needs...
and the cards incompatibility with the Axim is not just a 'small cosmetic personal preference'.... The card completely changes the design ethos behind the device, in that it is meant to be a small device that you can put in your pocket whilst you are mobile...

The thing is though... and i did check cos i was disapointed with mine.. is that the card works exactly as advertised. It made no false claims, or exagerations.
The fact that I wanted it to work in a better/more sensible/or different way isn't Dells fault. Or even Audiovox's. It was my fault for 'imagining' what I thought it would do. So it was really my fault for getting something that wasn't suitable, I think Bendg25 made the same mistake.
Now An electrical store may choose to let a customer take back a product if they bought the wrong thing by mistake, but they are not oblidged to do so, which is why doing your homework before you buy is important.

Seriously, why don't you give up and admit that you were just venting. Your arguments are completely ridiculous and nobody here is going to agree with you.
If you're looking for a device that just "melds" with accessory add-ons, you should talk to Cartman about his 'Trapper Keeper'.
