ActiveSync is stealing window focus

Hi all,

It's been only 5 days with my new X50v and I learned A LOT from this site. Filling it up really fast (all the programs to BIS, all the movies, maps, mp3's to SD/CF)

One quick question about the AS, though. I have 3.8 installed, and every time my X50v is connected to my computer (either via USB cradle or Bluetooth), AS steals the focus from other windows and keeps flashing. There is not even an item on it that needs "attention" (i.e., all "syncronized"). When I disconnect the Axim, things are back to normal. Is there any way to prevent this? It is very annoying especially if I am typing something.
Thanks in advance!

can't you just click the "x" on the activesync box making it minimize to the system tray on the bottom right of windows?

I wish it was that "simple" to click the "x" and minimize it to the system tray. Minimizing does not do anything. Until the Axim is disconnected, AS keeps stealing focus from other windows even it is minimized. After searching other PPC sites, I saw couple of more people having the same problem, but no solution so far...
EDIT: uninstalling and reinstalling AS 3.8 does not help, either.

Try to see if the following setting works:

In AS, goto Options/Schedule/
Under "Desktop schedule" / "When connected to my PC, sync:"

Thanks for the reply. It was set to "manually" almost from the beginning. Changing it to other options (e.g., continuosly) did not help, either.

tenderidol, I have a question for you. Has this always happened from day 1 that you had your Pocket PC? Really, think hard on this one because it might be that some program you have installed may trying to use ActiveSync as a pipe to retrieve data from your PC when connected. So, while it might look like ActiveSync is really the culprit, it might be some other program.

Something to try:
Click on the "Options" button on the PC side of ActiveSync. Check or play with the options under the "Schedule" tab such as making sure it doesn't say "Continuously" here. Another thing to try is to un-check all options under the "Sync Options" tab. Maybe something with one of those items is causing problems?

Hopefully something there is helpful and good luck. :approve:

Munk,
Thanks very much for your reply. You are right on the money!
Although, it was like this from day 1, last night I discovered the culprit serendipitously. It's Outlook! So, when I connect my X50v, AS starts, syncs all the parameters (calendar, etc etc), and everything is fine for about a minute. Then, almost all the open windows start flashing in sequence (extra annoying, if I am typing something). As soon as I launch Outlook 2003, things go back to normal. At least I know now :)
