Well, I have 45 minutes to go before I get off work and my wife just called and said "UPS just delivered a package from Dell" Yowsa!!! :approve: All I have to do now is go through the dreaded 8 hour charge time once I get my new toy unwrapped, and to think it ain't even Christmas.
I envy you - hopefully I will be in the same boat tomarrow afternoon (minus the wife :-) )
Ah my wife is GREAT, and she is a PDA freak too! The best part is she lets me get the latest/greatest and takes my old PDA till I get a new one. Right now she will be getting my Palm T/3 since I have the X50v, and then when Dell releases the X70v or whatever they call it then she will take the X50v. Oh yeah, she also loves double-header football games (GO STEELERS) and NASCAR, for the past 22 years I have been truly blessed.
gheesh man, phone home and get her to start it !!!!!
I never thought of that, no problem I'm home now and the X50v is all snuggled like a bug in the charger.
What's the big deal with letting the battery charge a full 8 hours before you can use it, and is it ok to set up the software on my notebook pc and do the first sync while it's charging?

Ba-gug,
Do not worry about charging that Li-Ion battery 8 hours. I have 2 of those batteries - charged both of them until they simply reached full-charge and have had ZERO problem with either of the batteries. The Dell Charger doesn't continue to hit the battery with current once it reaches full tank - it only "tops it off" when it detects it's dropped below full.
Obviously there are many opinions on this but I've never, ever, run into a problem with Li-Ion batteries being shortchanged by not charging them for some magical 8-hours. All my computers have LiION - same thing with all of 'em.

Did the same thing and had absolutely no problem. Just charge them till they hit green and start playing.:approve:

It's not the main battery you need to worry about. The 8 hr charge is primarily for the back up battery.
Ok, I know that I have had my X50v for just a few hours of "play time" but here are my initial thoughts.
1. Screen - WOW, the clearest I've ever seen
2. Set-up PDA to PC, pretty easy, I had to soft reset just once, but it was my mistake.
3. Form factor - I love it, I thought I loved my T/3, well no more slider and that is fine with me.
4. But..... I sure miss some of the software that I had on my Palm T/3 especially DateBook5. I'm playing with a demo of Pocket Informant, and will most likely purchase it, but nothing I have found yet even compares with DateBk5.
5. WiFi, I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how easy it connects.
