Can the x50v play Divx videos without re-encoding?

Well, I'm thinking of buying an Axim x50v, and I was wondering - can this PDA play videos in Divx/Xvid format without re-encoding to a lower bitrate?

Specifically, I want to play Divx/Xvid movies/tv-shows I get off of BitTorrent - is this possible on an x50v?

Thanks again,

Yes, Install TCPMP and you will be able to play them. It's the most common video playback program people will recommend on this forum.

Maybe someone could use TCPMP's benchmark feature on the x50v and let this person know what the maximum mbps the Axim can handle.

I would appreciate the answer too. :) I run TCPMP at QVGA & 30fps on a 400MHz iPAQ and have good headroom for about 1.3 mbps, even more if I overclock. (Haven't got my X50v yet)

check the TCPMP site, specifically the benchmark link that takes you here:

http://blogs.shintak.info/articles/11359.aspx

the x50v benchmarks out close to 200% on a 640x480 1.5mbit video (with 128kbit audio)

haven't found anything it can't play from local storage (sd or CF/microdrive) but it seems to choke playing over wifi at bitrates over 1mbit.

edit:

this one has even more high bitrates

shouldn't be any problem. I've been encoding half-hour tv shows to 175MB xvids, just like the PDTV/HDTV kind you'll find on torrent sites. no problems there.
