Why can't I sync up properly?

Ok granted I'm a bit impatient and haven't read the directions yet but help me out a bit if possible.

I installed the ActiveSync on my pc.

I opened the Activesync on the X50V after turning it on.

The PDA says connecting then Synchronizing and thats as far as I get.

The pc says no new profile found then it says

"synchronization cannot be completed because your personal information manager (PIM) cannot be accessed. Ensure you PIM manager is running and try to synchronize again. If you PIM is running restart your desktop computer"

So isn't the ActiveSync on the X50V the PIM manager? Am I missing something?

Don't turn on activesync on your device unless you are synching wirelessly. All you have to do is put your device in the cradle and your PCs Activesync will walk you through creating a profile and let you choose what you want to sync.

Well that didn't work either but it still let me install a program. What should i do now. What exactily is the activesync good for, just swapping file back and forth from PC to PDA?

Well that could be part of your problem. Might be worth looking at now don't you think?

Do you have outlook installed?

ActiveSync is used to install/uninstall programs, transfer files, sync PIM data like your calendar, contacts, tasks, notes, ect. It is also required to do any ROM updates.

No.. ActiveSync is a program that does the things I listed above. PIM stands for Personal Information Manager. On your desktop this is Outlook, on your Axim this is Pocket Outlook, contacts, tasks, notes, ect.

zane did you really turn off activesync on your device? The x button doesn't really close programs it just minimizes them. Do a soft-reset (push your stylus in the reset hole in the back) and try syncing with your PC again.

I'll do the soft restart tommorow, I"m burnt out on it tonight. I did get a episode of Seinfeld to work on it which was quite cool.

Open Outlook on the pc
Open the inbox
click tools tab
click preferences
click email options
put a check mark in each box BUT the top one
on replies....do not include
on forwarding....include
NO CHECK IN BOTTOM BOX
---------------------------
click mail setup tab
click email accounts
check the view or change box
this brings up another page showing the email accounts that you have set up....it should not be blank
highlight your account and click change
look very closely...this is where most errors occur...look at every word, every period
all 6 boxes need to be filled in
leave secure authentification unchecked
now click on "test account settings"
did it pass? if so...problem solved
if not, cick the "errors" tab and tell me what it says

there are several other settings but lets stop here and see if it now works...if not, we'll look further
remember to let me know!
