I am getting the Axim 50v in a few days. One of the things I would like to do with the Axim is listen to music. Does it work well for this? I rather have the Axim do this as well as it's other functions so I don't have to get an ipod!
Yup, and it can do that and more. You will going to love it!!!

your new toy will come loaded with windows media player 10 wich plays .wav files. i use GSplayer, a free music player that supports other formats of music. I would recommend headphone for sound quality but if you are in quiet enviroment the external speaker does the job. have fun!!!!!!!!

Yep, the x50v works well for mp3s except the battery life isn't too great for it. Like if I plan on using it to listen to mp3s for like an hour, it'll probably drop it down to 60% or less. This is with the regular 1100 battery though.
I use Beta Player for my Mp3's...I mapped the buttons to my desire and scale may processor down to "power save" mode with the screen turned off. I can listen to my Mp3s for like an hour and it would only waste 10%-15% of my battery(1100mah). You'll love your x50v the screen is AWSOME...and yes this is just my personal opinion ---> "Kicks Ipods ARSE!"

If you use WMP10 make sure you get something like psShutXP to shut off your screen to save on battery life.
You can shut off your screen right from WMP10, you don't need any utilities to do it. Menu->Options->Buttons->Toggle Screen. I have mine mapped to the action button.
