ravic try this:
Fantastic piece of information. If I may I will explain in simple terms what I did which now allows me to use PPC2003 with my PCMCIA hard drives. It follows what you said but a little more simply for less experienced users:-
1. first install 'exdrive.exe` onto your Pocket PC, available from
http://www.tjotala.com/software/winc...gebrickdriver/ or
http://www.c1au.com/addonics/main.htm
2. Use a Registry editor (I used Resco) on the PPC,
Open the following:-
HKEY_Local_Machine / Drivers / PCMCIA / ATADISK
Change the following entry `atadisk.dll` to `exdrive.dll`
Do not worry about the warning message.
Do exactly the same re.
HKEY_Local_Machine / Drivers / PCMCIA / ATADISK2
3. In either of the above entries copy the `iClass registry entry`
4. Look in ALL the folders in the PCMCIA section of the Registry.
If ANY of them show the 'exdrive.dll' then PASTE the 'iClass
registry entry into that section. There will be several sections
containing the 'exdrive.dll'. These are the entries which control
the different types of ATA hard drives that are recognised by
PPC2003. By pasting into each entry you will ensure that if you
have a compatible hard drive attached to your PCMCIA card it will
be recognised.
5. Perform a reset of the PPC, and your drive will appear in File
Explorer, providong it is compatible.
AS AN ADDITIONAL BONUS
I also have a PPC running PocketPC 2002. Using the `exdrive` driver it used to recognise one of my PMCIA hard drives, but ignored the other.
The Registry entries are different in 2002, but I found that if I
just changed the .dll as above in
HKEY_Local_Machine / Drivers / PCMCIA / ATADISK
and
HKEY_Local_Machine / Drivers / PCMCIA / ATADISK2
from `atadisk.dll` to `exdrive.dll`
then both drives were recognised. No other Registry modifications were needed.
Good Luck!
