Tried the new version on my x50v and Warfare Incorporated. Upon installation of the upgrade, the game went well as the previous tweak.
But if I power down and on it again, dual screen of the game appears (1 inch x 1 inch side by side) at the center of the screen and the touch screen goes haywire!
The only solution is to reset my x50v. Now back to using the original tweak..... :(
Just to set the record straight, 2.0a was effectively dropped because it doesn't work very well vs. 1.x and I don't currently have the time (or the time to gain the knowledge) to find a better way of doing it. Since people are apparently using it and having better luck with it than I expected, I'm going to spend some time this upcoming weekend to clean up the code and fix some of the worse bugs so that it will at least function as designed, if not as intended.
I pretty much picked apart the code and rewrote it in a more modular form, then compiled and sent the 2.0a driver to 5 or 6 people that volunteered to test it (da1writer was one of them). It was mainly put on hold due to the amount of problems that surfaced that couldn't be solved in the current structure. The goal of 2.0 was to improve compatibility and stability of the driver, and it didn't look like it had done either. Overall, 1.x works more often, more stably and faster than 2.0.
I really don't care all that much that 2.0a was released out onto the forums, I just didn't bother because it's not really in a state that I would consider anywhere near as good as 1.x, let alone better.
Emulamer, would it be possible to release the source code for this? Maybe just under the GPL or GNU, simply for the sake of some other developer who has the time could maybe get ahold of it and do something with it.
How HAS the Direct X/3d on WM5 been panning out? Is it going to make porting all that much easier from PC to PPC?

I'll release it public domain or under a BSD like license when I clean it up. Problem is that I don't think anyone else will take it over.. the sources up until 2.0a have been available and nothing else has been done. If you know of anyone, I'll send them the source directly and tell them the ins and outs of it.
I really haven't even looked at D3DM. I think it will be nice to have a Microsoft Approved(tm) API in that more developers will make use of it. As for how it could potentionally benefit this tweak, I have no idea. When I get WM5 on my X50 I'll see what all it does. I do not have any expectation that it could be any faster than the current GAPI tweak, only possibly more compatible.
For porting, no, I don't think it will have much of an impact other than having an easier API to work with. I really haven't even looked at D3DM and I know very little of directX in general though, so I could be completely wrong.

If you mean from clear Dell, then this is very well known, so for this we have these Tweaked GAPI drivers, but from previous version (middle bar in that graph) the difference is not so big. But, is there anyone who doesn't use Tweaked GAPI driver? ;)
Anyway, as I said, the new version looks promissing...
I would like to bet, we break 4000 point border! We must! :approve:
I tried this new enhanced GAPI, but about Morphgear I couldn't notice any difference. What is strange is that if I force morphgear to use the original GAPI driver, morphgear freezes ...
In fact the only software wich was really getting faster is CASTCE (Atari ST Emulator), but there is a few graphics problem when using enhanced gapi ...
Maybe somebody smart can stop me before I waste a bunch of time, but would it be possible to write an intermediate ddi.dll that will intercept and then pass on function calls like bitblt, paint, fill, etc. in order to get the areas of the screen that have been directly updated instead of trying to guess? Tricky, I'm sure, but is there anything that flat out prevents it?

Did you hack Morphgear... that's when you will see a speed difference. Follow the steps that emulamer gives in his 4th post of this thread below... you will then see a huge speed difference... http://www.spicypixel.com/forum/foru...posts=31#M8393

Thank you for this information, I didn't know it ... Anyway I hacked my Morphgear .exe file but still absolutely no difference ... I tried Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed (3D game for GBA) but I always obtain 24/60 as frame per seconds ... What ever the GAPI driver I use (original or enhanced). Am I missing something ?

3d games never were emulated well on VGBA for pocket pc but they at least ran descent (it depends on your definition). Games like Sonic Advanced, Zelda minish cap, and a few others run well w/wo sound.
Until Marat (one of our developers) releases his fabled updates, you may not be able to see a huge speed update until then. Try overclocking your pocket pc... you may get a small speed boost...
Also, go into global settings and raise your *Thread Priority* to High...

After much deliberating and testing, I must say I'm pleased with the newest build of the Enhanced Gapi Tweak me (da1writer) and Emulamer are doing together. Our latest build is in alpha/beta stages and we recently found out that Windows Mobile 5.0 will be coming out for the Dell Axim X50v with Pocket Direct X/ 3D, thus relenquishing our efforts to possibly releasing the newest Enhanced Gapi Tweak into further developing and possibly release dates of any new builds for it. Emulamer has been pretty busy with "Real Life" and I have jumped back into Morphgear again as we have picked up development (Morphgear 3.0.0.0), so we have both been pretty busy. After some time, people were asking me and Emulamer if we were going to release our "rumored" Enhanched Gapi Tweak 2.0a, we kept saying no because there were still some glitches/bugs present with it but we have been getting some great results in some programs. We did release our Enhanced Gapi 2.0a to some select people as beta testers but recently someone posted/leaked the Alpha/beta Gapi Tweak without our consent/permission/ or the rights to send it out to the community (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...&page=20&pp=25), which makes me wonder about who we can trust in throwing out our programs to people who want to be beta testers or try it out.
Anyway, After many people begging for this release, I finally believe I can distribute it to the community with their criticism but with a few notes though below mind you.
1.This is in alpha/beta format, meaning it may still have bugs.
2.The settings you put for this New Enhanced Gapi Tweak does not get saved into your registry. After each soft reset you do, it does not turn on by itself, you must do it manually every time.
Go into your Start menu=> settings=> system=> Enhanced Gapi Tweak=> click on the Start/Stop to get it running.
3.If you need help to get certain programs to display properly,
please email me or Emulamer for any of your inquires or post about it.
Now below is the link to it, have the Enhanced Gapi Tweak 1.11 handy in case you dislike this release and make sure you do a backup of your pocket pc incase things get a little hairy...
Oh and some have been asking for a cab file as well, Here is one below...
Note:
You must also uninstall the old Gapi Tweak (1.11). It hasn't been reported yet but you may run into problems if you don't uninstall the old one...
I might also want to mention to some of the other beta testers (who are still being hidden from the scene), especially biohzrd, that this is actually an updated Enhanced Gapi Tweak 2.0a. I think it's Release 9 or 10, so update your install, more programs work with this one below...
