I'm assuming that the X51v suffers from the same bad driver that the X50v's do, mainly because I can't imagine Dell having fixed it on a device which "phases out" GAPI if they didn't fix it on wm2k3. So, the need is probably still there, as to whether it will work or not, *shrug*.

i tried the version 2 and experience crashed. have to soft reset. i think i will stick on the windows's gapi for the time being.

Anyone try the new 2.0a Gapi Tweak on MegaMAME or MameCE? If so, how does it run? Faster or Slower? Thanks.

Does anyone know if this is useful or required for good performance on x51v with WM5? Or if it even works? I'd like to try it out but I'm a bit weary on trying things that touch drivers when they were designed for the old OS. Any experiences on x51v?

I installed it on my X51v, but after a soft reset I couldn't find it in settings/system, so I uninstalled it.

I installed both 1.11 and beta 2 on my x51v and in both cases I saw the icon just fine. The only GAPI app I use is pocket nester and the tweak, at least for the x51v, didn't work at all. I tried both versions and every combination of settings. So I've uninstalled it. Make sure that you reset the Axim BEFORE uninstall or it may not uninstall all the way.

EDIT: Actually, I don't know if Bejeweled 2 is GAPI or not but in its main screen it loaded and ran just fine with beta 2 in xscale mode.

EDIT: I can't uninstall the beta 2 version. I'm still trying to hack around that to figure out how to do it. I don't think it can be done.

Ok to uninstall beta 2 I reset, tried to uninstall beta 2 (let it fail and remove it from list). Reinstall beta 2 and before doing anything else immediately uninstall it. It seems to have worked :\. But who knows what other files might be lurking around. Well pocket nester is running although as slowly as it ever did. I suppose there is no relief for pocket nester users and x51v :(. The "hacked" VGA version doesn't work on x51v, either.

I have a Dell Axim x50v Rom version A05. I'm trying to get PocketSNES to work.

After loading a game, it appears to be frozen on the main SNES screen, then when I touch the screen it refreshes to several frames ahead and says pause at the bottom and is frozen again. Everytime I touch the screen it jumps a few frames ahead and says pause again and freezes.

I have read on another board that some x50v users got this to work perfectly with GAPI 1.11 yet I have also read that several other users on the same board are having the same problem. The users that have been able to get this to work do not seem to be able to help those who have not be able to get this to work (like me).

I have tried v1.11 GAPI, then I uninstalled it and installed 2.0a. I had the same problem with both.

I hope you can help me. Thanks for all your hard work, I appreicate it.

Sorry...I installed GAPI v2.0a

Afterwards, I even uninstalled GAPI completely and everything ran better/faster...the trick was finding the new PocketSNES version mentioned above. Before I removed GAPI, PocketSNES was dragging a bit, but after removing GAPI it ran much better.

Later I upgraded my x50v to Windows Mobile 5.0 and PocketSNES (v1.12.201)would no longer work once again. Then I installed GAPI v2.01a into Windows Mobile 5.0 and turned everything on. SNES began to partially function again but it was back to the same old pause problem where the screen would only referesh when I tap and then it would immediately pause again.

It's important to note that I had many stability problems with Windows Mobile 5.0. Many times the PocketPC wouldn't turn on and I have to do a soft reset sometimes a hard resent (really inconvienent). I spoke with Dell, they are having many stability issues with 5.0 and the x50, x50v, and x51v. I don't know if the stability problems are more of a Microsoft or Dell issue. Dell said they are desperately working on a Rom update to fix these issues.

In any case, I had to go back to Mobile 2003 se and everything began working again as described above.

This was posted on another site by Emulamer, I thought I would copy here so it could help others. This is possible fix for those trying to get Morphgear to work on Axim x50. While Emulamer wrote this for the Morphgear v2.2.5.7 I tried it on the lastest verxion v2.3.0.2 and some real positive success. I also had to install Enhanced Gapi Tweak 2.0 Alpha/Beta. Don't forget to turn the Ehanced GAPI tweak on before runing Morphgear and after completing Emulamer's fix below.

I do still have some latency issues I've been unable to resolve; however, this did fix the miniturized joystick skin issues I was having.

Emulamer sure has a lot of skills, we are lucky to have him in our x50v click. Here is Emulamers fix below.

I don't think this is against any rules on the board, but if so, feel free to remove it.

Of course, this is at your own risk, and I have no idea what other side effects with morphgear it could cause, but it worked for me with picard's gapi tweak on my X50v

2.2.5.7 with picard's gapi tweak (assuming the gapi tweak is already installed)

1. download and install morphgear 2.2.5.7 to your PPC, start it and choose GAPI as your driver. It will probably crash with access violations and stuff.

2. copy morphgear.exe from your PPC to your desktop, or somewhere else easy to find. note that this is *not* the morphgear installer, but the morphgear program that you will have to copy from your PPC after morphgear is installed. If you take the default install path, it should be at Mobile Device\My Pocket PC\Program Files\Games\MorphGear\MorphGear.exe through windows explorer while your PPC is connected.

3. download a program called resource hacker from http://www.programmersheaven.com/zon...1054/16956.htm

4. start resource hacker (reshack.exe) on your PC, choose file->open and find the morphgear.exe file that you copied from your PPC. Again, this is not the morphgear installer.

5. on the right, you should see a folder called "CEUX" If you don't, you're looking at the wrong file, or the wrong version of Morphgear. Expand "CEUX", and expand "HI_RES_AWARE", which should be under it.

6. Click on the little green thing labeled "1033" under "HI_RES_AWARE" On the right, you should see something like "0002A168 01".

7. with "1033" selected, choose action->delete resource [CEUX:HI_RES_AWARE:1033], and click yes to delete it.

8. click file->save, and then close resource hacker.

9. copy the morphgear.exe on your computer back to where you got it on the PPC (overwriting the one currently on your PPC). Make sure you get the right file on your PC (morphgear.exe), resource hacker will create a morphgear_original.exe, which is not the right one.

10. start morphgear on your PPC and see if it works.

If it doesn't, check again to make sure that you chose GAPI as your driver under global settings in morphgear.

If I recall correctly, the X50 has a QVGA screen. I dont think this fix would be needed on an X50. I think what this GAPI tweak does is run GAPI based apps in QVGA mode on VGA devices. Since you're already in QVGA, you probably dont need it at all.
Then again I'm not sure, I'm a newb at this as well, but I find that it works quite nicely on my X50v
