New Release. Enhanced Gapi Tweak 2.0 Alpha/Beta

After much deliberating and testing, I must say I'm pleased with the newest build of the Enhanced Gapi Tweak me (da1writer) and Emulamer are doing together. Our latest build is in alpha/beta stages and we recently found out that Windows Mobile 5.0 will be coming out for the Dell Axim X50v with Pocket Direct X/ 3D, thus relenquishing our efforts to possibly releasing the newest Enhanced Gapi Tweak into further developing and possibly release dates of any new builds for it. Emulamer has been pretty busy with "Real Life" and I have jumped back into Morphgear again as we have picked up development (Morphgear 3.0.0.0), so we have both been pretty busy. After some time, people were asking me and Emulamer if we were going to release our "rumored" Enhanched Gapi Tweak 2.0a, we kept saying no because there were still some glitches/bugs present with it but we have been getting some great results in some programs. We did release our Enhanced Gapi 2.0a to some select people as beta testers but recently someone posted/leaked the Alpha/beta Gapi Tweak without our consent/permission/ or the rights to send it out to the community (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...&page=20&pp=25), which makes me wonder about who we can trust in throwing out our programs to people who want to be beta testers or try it out.
Anyway, After many people begging for this release, I finally believe I can distribute it to the community with their criticism but with a few notes though below mind you.

1.This is in alpha/beta format, meaning it may still have bugs.
2.The settings you put for this New Enhanced Gapi Tweak does not get saved into your registry. After each soft reset you do, it does not turn on by itself, you must do it manually every time.
Go into your Start menu=> settings=> system=> Enhanced Gapi Tweak=> click on the Start/Stop to get it running.
3.If you need help to get certain programs to display properly,
please email me or Emulamer for any of your inquires or post about it.

Now below is the link to it, have the Enhanced Gapi Tweak 1.11 handy in case you dislike this release and make sure you do a backup of your pocket pc incase things get a little hairy...
Oh and some have been asking for a cab file as well, Here is one below...
Note:
You must also uninstall the old Gapi Tweak (1.11). It hasn't been reported yet but you may run into problems if you don't uninstall the old one...
I might also want to mention to some of the other beta testers (who are still being hidden from the scene), especially biohzrd, that this is actually an updated Enhanced Gapi Tweak 2.0a. I think it's Release 9 or 10, so update your install, more programs work with this one below...

Wow thank you. I'm sorry that people are so dishonest as beta testers, but you must realize that curiosity and fame usually get the best of us. Think of a world where everyone keeps to themselves and never reveal secrets. At the very least we would never be able to know about new axixs, or new technology.

Thanks a lot for the update. I understand that most of the development effort is going into Morphgear 3.0, but the improvements to the GAPI tweak will definitely tide us over until October. On a positive note, the fact that someone rushed to leak the new tweak without permission shows how much we all wanted it. No point in letting the project go to waste, even if we are just a month away from the massive update. I can't wait to see what the power of WM5 and Morpghear will be able to accomplish.

Morphgear team, keep up the great work! :-)

Alright, some early observations! (Will test more later)

Morphgear:
Morphgear only really works properly using xscale + screen sampling. It goes into 5-10 second fits when you launch it where the screen fades in and out, and when you tap a menu during gameplay. Performance is equal or better, with FF3(6) getting a noticable 4-5 FPS boost with sound enabled. The fading is annoying, but IMO the performance is worth it.

Flux Challenge:
Goes berserk and the screen flashes using the xscale driver, with or without screen sampling enabled. Runs beautifully at full speed using 2700g driver, just as it did with the first version of the tweak using either driver.

Enigmo/stuntcar extreme: I know these shouldn't be affected by the GAPI tweak, but for some reason they are. Using the xscale driver, the menu bar and start menu occaisionally flash over the game interface. Using the 2700g driver fixes this. (Why would the GAPI driver screw up opengl games?)

That's it for now, I'll try more tomorrow. Bottom line so far: Despite weird flashing, Morphgear benefits from the GAPI tweak in xscale mode. Flux challenge and the opengl games just flash weirdly...

Will WM 5.0 fix the GAPI problem on the X50v or will we need this tweak?

It improves gapi performance with the x50v. Almost all games use gapi. Hope that help...

It should but like us at Morphgear... we will possibly not be using Gapi anymore as our main driver, It will be using Direct 3D as it is faster than gapi and Open Gl|es. The Gapi Tweak will most likely not be used anymore when WM 5.0 comes out...

P.S. Thanx Chris for making this a sticky :approve: !

It is great to hear about Morphgear again, I was getting worried. I'm just about to try the new GAPI. The stuff that was mentioned about the X50v Window Mobile 5.0 update having Direct X; is there anywhere that I can read about it in more detail?

Here is what I have tried:
Morphgear
>Final Fantasy 3(6); it was running at pretty much exactly the same speed as it did with 1.11, but the menu(in the game) was broken up for a short time. It then worked fine. To test the driver I watched the first clip.
>Super Mario Kart; exactly the same as what happend with FF3. I done one lap, both on the same track.
The fading was slighly worse than with 1.11.
Both games were tested with the GAPI tweak with XScale LCD and without screen sampling. Everything else also had same settings each time.

I recommend using screen sampling as it fixes certain issues of Morphgear...

So is this tweak only needed if you are a gamer? What benefits does it have if you are not a gamer? Thanks!!!

Anyone try this (or would be willing to) with Mapopolis and an X50V with A05 installed? I cannot get Mapopolis to run without bugs on mine. I have not tried this release of the GAPI driver, but the old one has issues since I upgraded to A05. There is a picture out there of someone using Mapopolis on theirs, and the VGA screen is beautiful, but I don't know how they did it. I will search for that post and reference it when I find it.
Thanks.

So far...

Here is what I had with new GAPI:
- PocketSNES (1.12.201)
2.0 worked but lower performance than 1.11. 2.0 w/o transparency effect (SNES) w/ screen sampling (GAPI) has lower performance than 1.11 w/ transparency w/o screen sampling.
- PocketGnuboy (1.0.3)
Error message appears ans says "GXSVC cannot be found" Cutting off GAPI option, PocketGnuboy works, but GAPI 2.0 doesn't.
