How to get a decent price for x50v?
I've seen where people are getting these for $300+. I can't find anything under $420. I can get a $35 coupon from ebay. How else can I find a decent deal?
Thanks
Tim

Do a Google search for tech deals. There are many sites that tell you when things are on sale and cupon codes. One of my favorites is
www.techbargains.com

Go to eBay and search for "dell coupon buffet" (it's free - dead serious. You CAN pay them, but it's not necessary; the coupons are listed on the main page) - got a 25%-off Axim coupon that way. My Axim x50v cost $384 - but that's because I decided to get the extra battery from Dell with it, instead of auction sites. Otherwise, it'd have been around $300.
That should help :)
BTW, the $35 coupons don't work w/ axims :)

I originally wanted to buy an X50v around January. I saw a few good deals in March (around $320). I didn't actually buy my Axim until early August.
I got the Axim X50v, Rhinoskin case, extra battery and a two year extended warrenty all for about $280. I used to lurk around the "hardware deal" forum quite a bit.
What finally did it for me was some very nice Aximsite member posted how to use a certain coupon, and then buy another coupon off of Ebay. Needless to say, it worked out great. Just wait around for a bit. The deals seem to be coming about every two to three weeks now. Just hang in there.
By the way, I like my Axim, I just don't love it. It does everything I ask of it, but for some reason, i'm still wanting for more. Maybe I'll get a GPS unit or start playing some games. I'm very, very satisfied with Pocket Skype (VoIP), Betaplayer for videos, using my Axim as an MP3 player and one new use I didn't anticipate.
There is a website called "Orb." I installed it on my home pc and now I can stream everything from that pc to my Axim. So I can watch any video on my PC with my Axim, no matter where I am. I find that pretty cool for a free service. Also, because my PC has a TV tuner card, I can watch live tv on my Axim (Great on Saturdays when the Wisconsin Badgers are playing and I'm at work.)
My advice? Wait around a few weeks and you'll be able to buy an X50v with a few extras for around $270.

i got my axim last month from dell for 198 after a concession coupon and coupons. x50v with extra battery. pretty sweet deal. I also got $50 and $75 concession coupons from the deal as well -> rhinoskin+screen protectors for quite cheap. still waiting to use the 75 on an sd card...if dell will ever start providing 2gb ones.
i use the sites above but find anandtech.com and fatwallet the most useful.

Sale price + stackable coupons + promo offers = gold mine
A few days ago Dell had a nice offer on the Axim x50v, not sure if it's still available or not.

Such a deal...
I bought my reconditioned X50v from Dell for $319. Best deal I've found and have always had good luck with R/C units (Ipaq & Palm). :approve:

I just came here to say this too. Saw it on slickdeals. Now I need to decide if I really want the x50v or something with a phone...

Hey all,
Yeh I just purchased my x50v just this last Sunday using a 25% off coupon and 35 off 300 from Fatwallet.com (latest coupon code: S495WJGSD329WS) and I got it down to 278.42 (came upto ~316 after taxes and next day air). I just got it 2 days ago. So far so good! :) I just wished these coupons worked on Dells Home Outlet section where you can find refurbished x50vs for ~$350 coz I tried and it doesnt. Oh well its all good.
And Tim, regarding your decision about what you wanna get basically depends on whether you want the 624 mhz processor/ vga screen/ an extremely powerful (not yet really used to its potential) graphics card OR a regular pda plus with phone option meaning probably lower battery life (poor talktimes), maybe bad reception or pathetic voice quality such as the Treo smartphones. Just make sure you research the phone options of the pda phone before considering one. As per pure pdas = Axim x50v rocks!
Cheers!

Thank you very much for posting the deal. I just ordered my x50v 5 minutes ago - $296 with tax. The price is too good to pass up.
I own a hx4705 and have been posting and learning stuff here for a while. I can't wait until Spring 06 for the hx4700 WM 5.0 upgrade which will most likely cost me $40. The iPaq and all its accessorites will be going on eBay provided the x50v meets my expectations. Hopefully I will have some cash in my pocket after I sell it so I can go get a nice Vaja case for my new toy. It is a sickness - I know...
