Volume control, start and stop easy to reach?

One of my friends has the X30 and likes that he can keep it in the original basic case from Dell and just reach the "wheel" on the left side to start and stop when he is listening to music or books and also control the volume. How do you do that on the X50, because he really finds that to be a real plus? Also, his case from Dell has a belt clip, I just got my X50 and the case doesn't have a belt clip.

Well, there is no jog dial on the X50 series so you don't have the option of using a "wheel". However, you can map volume and other controls to the navigational buttons instead. (In WMP, go to Options, then look for the Buttons tab.) If you want a case with a belt clip, you will have to purchase one. Take a look at www.aximcases.com for a huge selection. Also be sure to check out the members discount forum for coupon codes.

ou can tell I don't know much whenI call the jog dial a "wheel"! When I go to buttons I don't see anything for volume up,down, pause, stop, etc. The earphone input is on the top, but how do you control things--do you have to pull the whole thing out of the case?

Ok, this is what you should see when you get into Options:

Simple tap on each function (e.g., Play/Pause, Stop, etc.) and then press the hardware button you want to assign it to. After you press a button, it will show the assignment on the screen. As you can see in my example, I don't have any assignments for Play/Pause, Stop and Pause, but I do have the left/right buttons assigned for Previous/Next.

If you want to control WMP without taking it completely out of the case, then you will have to get a case that allows this. The Dell slip case obviously will not let you do this.
