You mean switching to native VGA worked (and the icon resources were accessible - this is very important) by just switching the two resolution-related values in the Registry?

What works on X51v
I coppied over the executible, and then ran it.
I was able to switch to true vga and then back again without the DLL's .
(I didnt change any settings, just used defaults)
While in True VGa mode I was able to switch to landscape and back to portrait and it seemd stable.
Im running SPB Pocket Plus and Marsware Weather Panel ant they workd ok in True VGA mode.
I was then able to switch back to SeVGA without any issues.
I wont risk any more testing until Sprite can get thier back app working right so I can create proper ful backups. Once Sprite fix thier software then Im willing to test more for you.

Yes, you can do this, even without the DLL's. However, to be able to actually use the PDA in VGA (for example, go to Settings or Programs), you will need the DLL's. (If they worked over WM5, that is.)

Even if it's not perfect I don't see why it would not be possible to use WM5 in true vga mode.
I am starting to test it and seems to work fine for me:

Thanks! I wouldn't have thought WM5 (as opposed to WM2003SE) is able to be used 100% without any (even system) icons. In WM2003SE, you can't even go to Start/Programs if there're no system icons.

TRUE VGA on X51V with DLL replaced.
Someone on the forum has a link to a website where the DLL are modified to work with X51v. I tried it. No hanging or freezing. Now i am new to this, not sure how does the TRUE VGA settings work. I switched over, the desktop text appears small. If it could be adjusted to be a bit bigger that would be great. DOes anyone know how to do this? I tried changing settings in ozVGA, but they appear to change the scrolling side bar and system fonts. It doesn't have much to do with the desktop.

Extra Note:
The dll's work but there not all from WM5... so some icons are still missing, mobile word gives errors and the Kayboard is back to the old white one.

Maybe stupid question, but if you use the WM5 dlls, and switch back to QVGA, can you use Word, etc, without problem? Or after you have installed them, are you no longer able (for now) to use these programs in either mode?
Thanks!

Hmmm. Word works fine on my system when i'm in TRUE VGA mode. Everything seems good and great except Pocket Informant 2005 icons appear large and overlap when i run it. Also, the desktop icons are very small, hopefully this will be fixed in the future. Otherwise, everything else runs fine. I am also using calligrapher 8.1 as my keyboard. Microsoft keyboard is just too small and plain. By the way, i love calligrapher. My handwriting is sloppy and it can still catch what i wrote. It's unbelieveable.

Where're these DLL's? I can hack a color keyboard in them (see this thread).
EDIT: found it - it's here. Anyone want me to hack in a "cool-looking" SIP keyboard in the SIP DLL?

Okay, stupid question of the day:
If I rename the "old" msim.192.dll to msim.96.dll and use that in true VGA mode, will I be able to retain my pretty shaded keyboard, my transcriber that's visible, and my block recognizer, &c. that is large enough to use?
Or does the sizing go by virtual pixels, so to speak, and bugger everything up?
