What is your Experience?

What is your Experience?

Forums are great to list problems, and for people debating on a new X50 series PDA what is the truth regarding any concerns. If you do not have one of the Dell X50 series PDAs please do not vote.

This poll should let people know if there have been any issues, or have some people never had a problem.

There were some previous out of date polls so why not have a new one for all the people thinking of buying an Axim.

Please vote in accordance to the answer. Feel free to comment if you had a positive, neutral or negative answer!

I did have one major problem and it had to be replaced but I believe it was from being dropped so I voted minor problems with tech and forums.

Well everyone has problems with everything from time to time, so i'm not sure that this poll will give any useful results.

This is true, and I hope every future buyer of a Dell PDA will understand this. However, I think the poll will show there are usually only minor if any problems. I also believe replacements will be kept at a minimum, except for the occasional user that will say "it's broke and I don't know why", even though it was dropped, and most of us do this if it happens.

I believe dell makes a great product, and I hope everyone's experiences show this, despite minor problems.

but a 'problem' as the question is set could be anything from 'it is on fire' to 'i put it down and can't remember' or even 'i ran a bit of software on it that didn't work' or 'it electrocuted my cat'.

LOL I hope none of them catch on fire! Problems are defined by the user regarding their status, so this would not be a real scientific poll, just a general one.

IMO, there should have been a "software incompatibility/conflict" option...my only unplanned hard reset was due to a software conflict...hehe =)

I voted "Minor problems due to operator error" only because of the fact that I love downloading and demoing lots of different applications. As such, I probably soft reset my Axim more than most. In most instances it was due to a new app not playing well with something else on the unit. Other than that, my answer would have very easily been "Never had a problem!" Through all this, by some miracle, I've never had the need to hard reset (knocking on wood). But, just in case, I have Sprite Backup set to automatically backup my unit every night.

Being my first Pocket PC after years of being a Palm OS user, the Axim has exceeded my expectations by a long shot. The Palm forums are constantly bad-mouthing the Pocket PC as being totally unstable and slow. Well, take it from me, my X50v has been the most stable PDA that I have ever owned. I don't regret switching sides one bit!

I've actually had to have mine replaced twice, once from BIS corruption issues and once because the video chip went haywire and stopped displaying anything other than lines and static. Rotten luck I guess. So far this third unit has been flawless.
