You can't prevent a hard reset since your device requires power to keep all that stuff in memory. However, you can keep it charged up, or do regular backups so that you can just restore back everything quickly in the event it hard resets. I recommend Sprite backup since it doesn't require connection to a PC to do the restore.

BTW, welcome to Aximsite!

Here is where you can invest on a good backup utility, because no matter what, you sometimes need/have to hard-reset.

Sprite backup is one of the most recommended around here.

The upcoming OS upgrade (Windows Mobile 5) fixes that problem.

No

As for now, the best plan is to not let your battery go dead. You can also invest in something like Sprite backup and save yourself some time with the reinstalling.

as flyacl said.. your 2 options are either don't let it go flat, or back it up before it does. Hopefully WM5 should solve this problem

So, are you saying if I upgrade to WM 5.0 on my x50v, I don't have to worry about losing my data if my battery goes south?

Bingo! WM5 uses the BIS as the main place to store ALL data and uses the RAM for, well, RAM.

A good article with links to others is here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/...14/438991.aspx

According to that blog...our battery life will get better since they're removing the 72 hour requirement which basically causes our axims (and all other MS pdas) to tell you that the battery is almost dead when it's really at 50-25%.

By the way, after your battery is "dead," you should still have 72 hours to get it to a charger before the memory resets.
